New TV but no supported format via HMDI

So my Tv clapped out on me recently and I've borrowed my grans old TV, not too bad at first I thought but it seems my PC does not have the resolution listed that the TV supports, what possible fix is there for this? I thought it was all plug & play but I guess JVC has crappy firmware?

1920x1080p 60hz?

i suppose if it's an old tv, maybe it only accepts i? (interlaced, maybe even change to 24hz or 30/29.97)
