My greetings to all,
Currently I have HP 8740w with LVDS display and when I tried to perform an upgrade to 1070M built-in display doesn't work with this card. But after a while, you can hear the sound of Windows starting up. So, I assume, that GPU was recognized correctly and something wrong with signal between GPU and built-in screen. I tried to gather some info about this and all I could find is: Pascal GPUs are not wotking with LVDS screens, they need eDP screen. But also I found that 1060M was successfully installed into HP ZBook G2 that doesn't have DC2 (DreamColor 2) screen. So, here is a questions: is it possible to run 1070M on HP 8740w with VBIOS mod or it is screen-related problem? Also, could it be a famous whitelist from HP?
To cut off some questions here is the configuration:
CPU: i7 920xm (idk how CPU can impact something in this issue, but anyway...)
GPUs:
- Old: NVIDIA M3000M
- Want to install: NVIDIA 1070M
Built-in screen: Samsung 170CT12-001
