Ok So I am using the Northwind Database for MySQL 2008 Express Edition. Standard Microsoft database to start learning SQL. This is for school and it is starting to get on my nerves. So here is my problem and lets see if one of you out there can help me. It seems so easy but I cannot wrap my head around it.
Problem: 6. Generate a list of products (ProductName) that have never been ordered (outer join between [Order Details] and Products).
Here is my query:
SELECT Products.ProductName
FROM Products LEFT OUTER JOIN [Order Details]
ON Products.ProductID =
[Order Details].ProductID
WHERE [Order Details].Quantity IS NULL
now this is actually working but it does not return the results I need. The query executes but in the table below it does not show the results I need. Now on Orders and Products they are supposed to be outer joined. You can see that I did do that. Well in Products it has a column heading that says UnitsOnOrder and there are some with 0. Using both 0 and Null is working but not returning the results I need. Anyone have any ideas?
