Old p4 pc's with fully activated Win7 selling for like £70. How ??

This is something thats bugged me. I sometimes av a look on ebay (UK) at the second hand pc's for sale ( For something to do when i'm board )

Anyway i keep seeing older pc's with win7 installed for prices less than cost of win7 alone :confused:

I just seen an auction for a 9 identical old p4 rigs £68 each. Ok nothing special in that but the auction says they all have fully activated windows 7 pro.

I thought win7 cracks & hacks where some what bull & dont really work.

I used to run a cracked version of Windows 7 Home Premium x64. It ran fine. That said, it would be unwise to sell PCs with cracked software to total strangers. Maybe the guy has some connection with MS where he gets cheap copies, or maybe works at a place that makes/distributes copies and steals them.

Probably because it is easy to activate the same copy of Win7 as many times as you want if you know how to cheat Microsoft's system. And the machines will run fine including recieving updates until the user tries to re-install the OS, or Microsoft bans the key and the OS re-authenticates.

So i guess some sellers are just using the same win7 cd key for many pc's. I didnt realise that sort of thing was still possible

These are likely old PCs that are coming off of lease that have had the OS kept current.
Usually when you see a lot of identical boxes for sale, they were leased PCs.

Yeah i should say theres many offices out there with 7 or 8 yr old pc's thats been updated with win7 32bit. Does seem a waste of money though

The cost of the OS upgrades is most likely included in the price of the lease. When the lease is up, the company leasing them has made a lot of money over and above the cost of the machine and the software, including any upgrades. They then dump them for almost nothing to resellers who can make a little money on them.

Yeah thinking back the cheap as chips pc's with win7 installed av all been old office type pc's so they would av been ex hired machines that have had software upgrades.

as for this i see this my self some times its iffy ebay sellers
dumping crack copys of windows 7 on old computers two,
sell the old crap p.c.s fast by makeing them look new with windows 7
installed.
trust me must people will sell there grandmares on e.bay :roll:

Those people might work at MS support or something, with access to the tools to generate any keys they want. A guy at my job got fired for that.
