Hello
I would like to ask if someone could please tell me what to do to gain more performance im using atm an
Amd fx 6300 procesor and a XFX Double D HD 7950 Black Edition Graphic card "i dont know if i can oc it since i never done"
Any tutorials would be realy good and would help me alot since the pc isnt that old bout 5 months.
I hope that you can help me guys thanks.

Head into your user profile and fill in the system spec's section. This will allow everyone to see your Mobo, psu and such.
Did you buy the pc over the counter or build yourself.

Okey i have done everything.I did build the computer myself but never got into overclocking. And thanks i think i will be okay here :)

Hi

Welcome to TPU

XFX Double D HD 7950 Black Edition Graphic card "i dont know if i can oc it since i never done"
Any tutorials

Single card configuration
Factors to be built in to the OC process
-Fabrication process of the GPU [differs from one to another some OC well and other not so well]
-[General Rule of Thumb]; to find out the max OC, increase 5~10Mhz on core in stages test at each stage, if the system freezes you have gone to far, lower the OC by 40Mhz and then start the same process with the MEM increase 5~10Mhz once you get artefacts back the OC down by 40Mhz; Use GPU-Z to keep an eye on VRM Temps these can rise quickly when OC's are applied Keep these between 70~80c : 85c Max]
-Adjust vga card fan speed manually
-Be aware that some games do not like OC's and testing with each game as well as benchmarks is necessary
-Make sure the drivers are stable; if they are unstable they will crash the OC
-Check that the motherboard is setup and chipset drivers are up to date [Run CPU and MEM at default speeds while testing vga card OC]

Note: Use MSI Afterburner, Sapphire TriXX or other software to OC

Other members of the TPU community should be able to help with the CPU and MOBO oc

An easy way to overclock your Radeon is to use AMD Overdrive, MSI Afterburner or Saphire Trixx. Just increase the clocks ins small increments (I usually use 25Mhz increments) and test with a GPU stress test (Furmark, GPU-Z render test, etc) to look out for artifacts and such. Once you get errors, dial back an increment and then test with a game (I've found Crysis 2 to be a good real life test for overclocks). While you're doing this uncheck the "Apply overclocking at startup" option (if present) until you've found your optimal clocks.

CPU overclocking is usually done through the bios. Luckily your FX has an unlocked multiplier (the easy way to overclocking). Just go into the bios, then into MIT > Advanced Frequency Settings and change the CPU clock ratio. Your CPU speed would be CPU Clock Ratio x 200Mhz, so a 20 clock ratio would net you a 4Ghz speed. Just up one ratio at a time, boot into Windows and run a CPU stress tester like OCCT for 5 or so minutes, rinse and repeat. Once OCCT fails dial back a ratio or two and then run OCCT for an hour to ensure stability. If the stress test fails dial back a ratio until it doesn't anymore.

There's more to CPU overclocking than that (base freq. OC, edit voltages, etc) but I'd recommend you to get yourself acquainted with OC before plugging into that.

Hi

i dont see any difference when i put powerlimit to 20%

Extra 20% Power limit; would be used when vga card is under heavy load, [this may equate to a little extra stability on the cards power draw]

That will allow your card to draw 20% more power if you need it on top of your overclock. If you are having trouble reaching a certain clock or if it appears that you cant clock much past stock bump power limit up and try again. Alternately you can bump it all the way and work backwards to see if your stable 20% then 15%, 10%. If your clock and temps are fine at 10% then no need to slide to 20% Keep an eye on your power draw with gpu-z. Some cards have locked voltage so if the slider does nadda then you need to unlock voltage via edits. That's advanced stuff so just stay with adjusting core and mem for now.
Here is an example. My 7870xt is stock 975 on core and 1500 on mem. I can't touch my mem past 10Mhz more or my performance drops. No matter my core setting. My core holds 1200Mhz with a power limit increase of 20% and hits 68c in Valley or Haven benches. Furmark or Occt heads close to 80c. They are extreme tests so usually Haven or Valley will do and are closer to everyday usage. If I set my Cards core to 1150 I don't need 20% to achieve that. It's been awhile but I think 10 or 12% did it.
Like @TRWOV said little bumps at a time are key here as the idea is to reach maximum performance with a decent oc at the lowest voltage possible. Less heat and less power is win win.

Just some pointers so that you don't freak out or anything:

- When OCing the GPU you could get these outcomes after going past the maximum stable speed:

1) odd colored pixels appearing here and there, just undo the overclock and try a lower speed.

2) garbage screen:

In this case the PC might lock up and you'll need a hard reset (press the reset button). The try a lower speed.

3) a VPU crash (black screen, sounds still go on). Same as before, just reset.

4)blue screen

5) a hard crash (your PC will reset itself).

This is why I recommend you to uncheck the "Apply overclock at startup" option. Otherwise if you set a bad clock you could get stuck in a loop.

When OCing the CPU the most common outcome of an unstable overclock is a blue screen or a hard crash. If the OC is too high Windows might not even load. Just go into the bios and set a lower clock ratio.

Hi

Is it a must to overclock an FX-6300 cpu if i have recently bought
a 280X

No; [not in real world gaming]

Note: it would only effect games that are CPU bound or un-optimised for multithreading, so this would depend on the game engine
