Okay I have a problem guys please help me.

I was messing around with my spare motherboard and I noticed that the socket pin protector was not placed, so I tried to put it in.

Not knowing the proper way how(im noob at this sorry), I think I may have bent one of the pins(please check in the picture below)

The circle part is where the bent pin is

please help, would my mobo still work? if not can it still be fixed? or what I have here can be already considered paperweight?

using that he needs to align it properly with the other pins so that they're all parallel with each other right?

wow thanks johnspack and AthlonX2, I might be able to use your advices if ever I'll be able to fix my motherboard. Well, now here's the question, how will I be able to insert the socket protector anyway?

Yeah pretty easy. Happened to me a couple of time while being in a hurry. Use something small and try and be patient and don't apply too much pressure, you surely don't want to break it. That would be the end of it. Be careful and apply the least pressure possible.

assaulter_99, do I need to use gloves, or do I need clean hands to align the pins?

Nothing fancy, since it won't be powered anyway. Your hands won't likely be in contact, just the * you'll use to re-align it.

That is a VERY easy fix if you got steady hands and a pushpin. I did an 8 pin job on my wifes UD3R.

My Dad's old mobo has 4 or 5 pins missing out of the CPU socket and still works. It all depends on which pin it is... trial and error is the only way to be sure in this situation!

I've found that a mechanical pencil with an extended metal tip (like many of the Pentel models) are good for this type of repair. Push the lead back up the tip, then slip the tip over the bent pin and lever it back into position. This has the added benefit of making it unlikely that you will accidentally break the pin while attempting to straighten it.

That is soo lucky! :toast: They must have been ground pins, or unconnected pins. Heck, even a power pin or two and it might still be ok.
