And I was wondering is the back of the card is open? Like no covers, and is there stickers everywhere?

You mean you didn't have a heat problem before you went SLI?

Tbh the 8800GT don't have a great stock cooler... and it's single slot (I got one myself). It even peaks to the high 80's at high load gaming.

If you didn't have a heat problem with one card, and now you have with 2, it means that your case ventilation isn't enough to cope with the heat generated by 2 cards.

First thing to try out, before spending money, is whether you still have the heat problem if you run your pc with the side of the case removed.

Changing coolers in your case could be tricky - the best cooler for the 8800GT is Zalman's VF1000...... B.U.T.

It's biggish so probably it wouldn't fit in a SLI setup.... :ohwell:

Btw, you aren't overclocking them are you?

Edit:

Duh I forgot your original question. I don't know if Palit have some special policy.... but normally any tampering with the card will void the warranty.
The best thing would be to save the cover in a safe place, and just in case you need to rma just remove the cooler and re-attach the original cover. Take care not to remove any stickers which say 'warranty void if removed' in the process.

Hope this helped.

I have got the Non-Reference Design by Palit and one of the screws on back there is a sticker of warranty Void.:( i Have an Armor Vh800BWS. i am running them on 640/950/1600 Gpu/Memory/Shader
the temps are the top card about 77c Max under Load the bottom one is palit and temps are not readable. But the temp are high since it is winter here 22-23c Room temp. But in Summer the temps go upto 33c so then there will be a problem that's why i am rushing to buy a cooler

Were did you purchase the card from?

I'd go to the retailer, and ask him to do the job himself, if this is possible. He wouldn't charge much to replace a cooler.
And normally if the seller does it he will not be voiding the warranty.

But this applies only if perhaps you bought it from a computer store nearby... prolly not if you got it from companies like Newegg, OcUK etc....

My Best bet will be asking the retailer to do it since we have very good business relations will try that apart from that. On Palit's site there is no info regarding the warranty if i remove the cooler and their forum is also not accessible.:( Will contact the dealer tommorrow and get back to you.
