PowerColor X800GTO AGP Query

Hi,

I was browsing on the PowerColor website and found this X800GTO AGP

http://www.powercolor.com/global/main_product_detail.asp?id=98

Interstingly it is showing as having a core speed of 475, rather than the normal 400 of the GTO's.

If it isn't a mistake, it could mean the card comes with a R420 chip because I remeber reading somewhere that the R420 cores were going to be used in the X800GTO AGP cards.

Could this fare well for unlocking the 4 pipes and making it a 16 pipe card?

Cheers guys

it comes with a faster clocked core but slower clocked memory.. so it could have a good core and be teamed with slower memory.. who the hell knows with these gto cards.. none of em are designed to be what they are.. they are just a means of getting rid of suplus hgher end parts at a budget price..

all the parts exceed the speciifations.. by how much is the only "unknown"..

Cheers guys.

The specs it is giving of 475 Core and 900 Memory seem to be identical to the X800 Pro. The core is definitely listed higher than what it normally is on a GTO but the RAM should be at 980 on the GTO, but the are showing it as 900

I wonder if there is maybe a mistake in the specs they've listed but yeah, it could be it is a good core and slower memory.

I'm curious if I'm the only one who has a Sapphire X800GTO AGP with the R430 core? Mine was able to be unlocked to 16 pipes but only came @ 400/490 and will only clock to 457/564.

I also have the Saphhire X800 GTO and am testing it and benchmarking it right now. I've had the core at 426 and the mem at 528 and has been running stable. I'm now trying to raise those numbers a bit and will max out tonight and see what happens. I also have the r430 chip but haven't unlocked the pipes yet. My 3dmark06 was 1519 and 3dmark05 was 4677. I thought those numbers were low compared to similar specs:

Athlon 3000 64
2 gigs DDR400

This is set to 1024 X 768 and refreshes at 85hz. Performance dramatically drops if I raise the resolution higher. Thoughts??

Also, what kind of performance boost can I expect if I unlock those pipes?

the numbers sound about right.. the four extra pipes would be worth about 450 extra points in 2005.. ignore 2006 it dosnt let u run half the tests.. hence the lousy score..

The card on the picture has PCB similar to X850 AGP which means that probably the core will be R481 (or R420 if they still have available). I will not be surprised if these cards equiped with probably the last "AGP cores remain in the warehouse" are all with 16 working pipes ;).

The NEW GTO (understand old PRO) is comming back but hopefully with unlockable pipes ;) .
