protype running terribly on 8800gts

So I recently got Protoype game and game is awesome, but game runs same on high setting and res and low settings and res.

It lagging so badly it's unplayable

When I tried playing on 1280x1024 (highest I can get) on everything high and it's unplayable. it's like 4-8 FPS

and I even put it on 800x600 and everything low and there's no difference at all.

I mean wtf man?

According to this game should be running fine http://www.yougamers.com/gameometer/10342/ because my specs are:
3gb 800Mhz RAM
DualCore Intel Pentium D 930, 3000 MHz (15 x 200)
Nvidia GeForce 8800gts(512/1188/800) (OC/ed to 600/1389/895) 320mb edition

I don't know what to do so please help guys

is there a default button in the video setting page of the game? (I havent played the game, so...just trying to help) If yes, go on default, and then start the game!

also set your video card to default as it might be causing the problem!

I already tried all that

video card was default when I played the game, that's why I OC'ed it thinking it's too weak, but there wasn't any change

Oh btw, That's a Pentium D, not a Core 2 Duo. Quite the difference.

In fact, your CPU isn't that good at all.

oh I see, well, it's dual core

anyway I have latest drivers, could that be a problem? maybe it will run better on older drivers

I'm going to reinstall game in a hour

Your cpu is old now, even the lowest clocked core 2 duo(E2140) will absolutely tank it when overclocked

but anyway, make sure nothing is running in the background, also, make sure the drivers are cleaned out.

Many will agree with me but your bios is the best key for overclocking. Software for OCing cpu's is not so good. If you want to take a crack at software OC'ing google Clockgen or SetFSB.

hmmm ok, thanks, I don't know how to OC processor that's why I asked for software...

if I get it from 3.0 to 3.5 will there be noticeable improvements

after doing some looking prototype has problems with cards under 512mb, once you go over 1024x768 or turn on aa or high textures with under 512 your performance dies in that game,

seems like a bug

I played on 1024x768 and 800x600 all very low and still it was unplayable

Try disabling other HID compliant device or uninstall except for the mouse and keyboard, this solves most of the fps problems. It's a prototype bug.

A friend of mine had the same problem, prototype was running lag-less on his machine, then someday it started lags alot regardless of different graphics settings. It's more like a software problem than hardware I believe. He's tried re-install the game, didn't help. He's PC has E8400 and dual 9600GT's was running 30FPS(highest we get from this game) and now around 12. Probably some driver issues from Nvidia, try the 180's maybe?BTW, your CPU isn't that bad.

Edit: didn't see reilan's post, and it actually solved the problem!
