What CPU cooler was it on? But 3.6GHz for a quad is dam good for almost any stepping.

Its dead dude. lol jk Is that 52-55 load at 1.5v

yeah full load, like UT3 for instance, or any massive multitasking.

prime/orthos saw 60-61 but i really hate those programs anyway, with alot of chips ive tested over the past few years, prime/orthos stable is bogus compared to gaming/windows stable.

what i mean by that is, what orthos/prime rejects as unstable i have had as 24/7 overclocks on a hardcore gaming rig, so i dont really use them anymore.

Especially when temps wouldn't touch over 55*c  I had a lot of room to clock that quad but it wasn't up to scruff I guess. I pulled my GF's quad out of her computer and loaded it up with my motherboard. Her's was a G0 as well. I hit 3.7Ghz, but nothing more. It was within the last 5 months, and I heard the newer G0's weren't that great.

*edit- I did have pretty crappy RAM though.. that could have limited the overclock but too late now. Sold the computer to a friend of mine. Maybe I'll go over there and put in some corsair dominators at 1066Mhz and see if I can't clock it up.

I hear ya. I don't prime much unless I'm screwing around with vcore.

Do you have any idea that each chip is different? I've seen plenty of Q6600's with his stepping have good overclocks. Don't crucify others for the shortcomings of your own hardware.

^My friend has my old quad running at 3.2Ghz with 1.32 vCore. CPUs are not created equal. Sure that has been said a thousand times now.

Author of this thread. I think it's impossible to hit 3GHz only 1.2V. If I remembered correctly, I needed 1.33V or 1.34V to hit 3GHz stable in Prime95.

i can do 3ghz on less than stock set in bios, which equates to very low...

1.2875 is my Q6600's VID

i cn run 3ghz stable on a P45 by setting 1.2625 in bios

this ends up being 1.22-1.20 reported under windows/load

i find it odd i can clock to 3ghz on less than stock yet it takes 1.5+ to get 3.6 gaming stable.

I must of had a crappy B3 then. My Q6600 didn't like going above 3.2GHz though. Q9550 FTW!

Don't go i7. Q5500 = i7 neck to neck. C2D/C2q or P II is the better deal for now.

Exactly why I'm not going i7 yet, spearman. i7 is not worth it. I'm glad I always make the correct deicisions when I make my move for an upgrade. I predict that i7 will be worth it in summer time (June/July). I'll upgrade to the best CPU, 6GB DDR3 1600MHz or higher, the best ASUS board. I have plenty of time to save up my money.

my thoughts exactly, i really want to find someone who's jumping on the i7 wagon that i can get a QX9650 from.... hello unlocked Multi :toast:

Would be cool if Intel release a Q9550 Black Edition for about the same price as the current Q9550 or something lol. The QX's have fucked up prices. AMD did it, why not Intel?

I never understood why the QX9650 was like £400 more then the CPU below it (my processor). I mean WTF. Unlocked multiplier and 200MHz more, wow. Haha.
