Question for people who played Bad Company 1 & 2

I only have a PC. I have seen trailers of Battlefield Bad Company and loved the idea of the story. The team seems funny, cocky like the game would be a real Hoot. Of course I cannot play it. But now there is Bad Company 2 out for PC. Is Bad Company 2 funny like the first game was? If so, I may get it.

BC2 is just as good as the 1st. IMO, same gameplay style.

They're very average. I clocked about 40 hours in Modern Warfare 2 and Bad Company 2 and then just stopped playing.

They lose the value, quick.

Thanks. I may see if there is a demo and try it first. If they guys are still cocky and funny, I'll like it for sure.

I don't play miltiplayer games at all. Tried em, can't stand the boring frag fest. I need a good campaign/storyline. Tried COD 1 couldn't stand the extreme linear-ness. I played MOH Airborne and loved it. Tried COD 4 Modern Warfare 1, - Couldn't stand the CO barking at you the entire game. Just saw some gameplay for MW2 single player and it looks like a huge improvement over all the past COD games. I will try out the demo if there is one.

40 hours in single player or muliplayer? What happened.. just got bored with it after a while? Did it seems like the same old repetition?

I also tried Battlefield 2 and 2142 but found those were just offline versions of multiplayer maps with bots. Got rid of those rather quickly. I think if a game says "single player' it Must mean it has a campaign/story mode. If it's just a multiplayer map with bots they should not call it single player but call it offline map or arena mode.. Big difference. I think the game gives the wrong impression by not distinguishing between the two.

BC isn't like COD in MP, thats the issue your running into, the maps are much larger, each class only gets 1 grenade, not really a frag fest.

BF BC2 had an OK storyline - its great when you realise that the earlier BF games didnt even have a storyline.

MP is good, its larger maps which means its not so quick paced. you actually have to work as a team and use strategy.

Actually, I prefer the Battlefield without story, because playing with bots on multiplayer maps improves your knowledge of the maps rather than follow some half cooked story.

Can't play BC2 MP on your own. Your stuck to playing online on someone's server.

I though BC2 had a decent SP, I managed to finish it unlike MW2.
In MW2 I just got fed up of the constant popping round corners AI, it gets dull and repetitive real fast (like bowling with barriers up and using the assist). You just aim down a corridor fire for a few mins, run forward to stop the enemies re-spawning in that area and repeat.

There wasn't that much humour in BC2 SP, but it did work towards the end to give the feel that the squad was a squad.

O.k. Got BC2 playing now.. it's a trip. I'm crouching behind the corner of a house for cover and suddenly the whole corner gets blown away. LOL

Sorry to hear it's not as humorous as BC 1 but it seems pretty good just the same.

This game has serious bloom and HDR issues. You can turn down bloom with an ini file but there is no way to turn down or off HDR. This game is seriously bright in places.. kinda annoying but it's livable. I read that the bloom = false ini option doesn't turn it off completely. I even tried it on direct X 9 mode instead of 11. It only helps a tiny bit.

Getting MW2 later today.

if you look for a really cool story line go MW & MW2, BC2 is a lil bit funny but story is a lot predictable and sometimes boring.. so, it´s your choice :)

Yeah, It just got really repetitive. Shooting or Action or whatever is my preferred genre of games, and these stoked me but I just stopped playing them. That seems to happen with every game though.. but I occasionally feel the urge to play them, or CSS, or left 4 dead..

I have a lot of games though, I think its overwhelming sometimes. 60+ steam games, 128GiB folder lol

Well got Modern Warfare 2 and I like the game play of Bad Company 2 better. I find the stories of both games are only o.k... nothing really exciting. MW2 bugs me cus I have to follow another guy which pretty much means stay behind him. If I get too far ahead I lose my objective. I would rather they gave you a map with waypoints so I could reach the objective on my own, the way I want to. Like MW 1 I find MW 2 has way too much chatter that is really annoying. I might be part of a team but in this game there is no real sense of personal accomplishment when the mission is over. At least in BC2 the mission hinges on what I do. In MW 2 I feel like I'm watching a movie. Very bad game though i'm gonna finish it. Last time I try a crappy COD game unless they drasticly change the gameplay.

I'm into competitive gaming, that requires skill.

Call of Duty Modern Warfare is not one of those games. I stopped playing after I played a round in multi-player on the airport level, camped in a corner, got 6 or whatever kills, got a helicopter, got like 20 kills and then nuked and ended the game with a 34/1 ratio.

It's just stupid. Perks and rewards ruined the entire game.

Just finished Bad company 2. Thanks to all who replied to this thread.

I would happily play Bad Company 3 if they made it.

Now i'm moving on to my next project, Twin Sector as well as finishing MW2. Twin Sector because it's kinda portal like and portal 2 won't be out for a while.. I like to play different stuff after a long haul of FPS, like a good RPG.. in first person of course. LOL

I like games that make you think.. not just shoot but figuring out puzzles too like how to open doors or get out of impossible situations. Sadly too few shooters have good puzzles.

You would like both Singularity and Prince Of Persia:Forgotten Sands( despite Ubisoft's DRM).
