The end of the 3rd quarter should see the first volume shipments of the R-series gpus (R520, RV530, RV515 and RV505 ) by Taiwan Semiconductor Manufacturing Company. The gpus, based on a 90nm technology, should result in a profitable 4th quarter for card manufacturers, unlike the first half of this year. If we are lucky, the sources at Digitimes are dead on with their information, and we can ask Santa for a new ATI card this Christmas.

Now I'm not so sure if I want an r520 right away. I thought they were going to be 32 pipes, but now that I see that they're only going to be 16pp, but still 90nm I'd rather wait to see it go up against the 7800 GTX before I go out and buy one or the other.
