I will buy one...... unless it's underwhelming.

Sapphire get a hard time from a few folks on TPU. Also, the 780 Lightning was a disaster as MSI did nothing to circumvent Nvidia (Kepler's) boost and voltage limitations. It was like having a Ferrari with a 80MPH speed limiter on it. The Lightning series otherwise have been very good cards.

I was about to mention this. If MSI balls up the voltage limitations then I think most people will disregard lightning's and just go for the Classifieds(for NVidia anyway).

I Googled "Asus R9 290X Matrix" but got nothing - that's AMD's other super hope. Damn fine card's those Matrix fellows.

I wonder how much of an effect the better VRM will have on OC capability because as of right now air(1156mhz average) and water(1236mhz average) cooling is not much worse than LN2(1317mhz average) and the Lightning HD7970 didn't beat the reference HD7970s by much either. I also hope they don't use Elpida RAM especially now since even Sapphire's R9 290 TRI X is using Hynix.

Sapphire R9 290 Tri-X uses Hynix? It's a good sign. But Hynix didn't loose one factory in 2013? Thats why we have much more Elpida chips.

All the pics I've found so far show Hynix and I'm getting a pair soon so I'll check on mine
