Im new to forums, my first post, so yayy!

I sort of (sort of) looked around for a post similar to mine, but didnt see one, so yeah, heres the thread, delete as pleased.

This is my problem: Realtek HD keeps locking up my pc. Ive done alot, but its not helping. Any suggestions? Im getting quite annoyed :/ Im pretty sure its the drivers, not the card its self, for when Realtek HD is uninstalled my pc works perfectly.

Specs: P5Q SE/R, Q9650, 9600GT and 3.25 gb ram.

Thanks :p

Have you disabled it in the BIOS to be sure it is the culprit?

yush i have disabled it from BIOS. Its defiently the drivers. They just keep locking-up my pc, anything with sound played and it starts stutering, forcing me to hit reset button.

Umm...specwise i dunno how deep to go, but im running xp on service pack 3. thats bout all the improtant stuff, i think. thanks guys :D

I had same problem, and what I did is, uninstall the driver from Realtek, and let my Vista SP2 install the generic driver, it's working good, there is no different anyway.

what he said is that he uninstalled the drivers and then installed sp2 but that was on vista, not xp. Are you running a sound card or the onboard? if u run the onboard, look here in the forum somewhere ketxxx drivers. they are better and sound better with the realtek hd

ketXXX's drivers are the original drivers with a few ini tweaks. they wont solve this problem as they're still the same drivers.

look in your user control panel (CP) for system specs and fill out every field (dont forget to change the drop down box to "yes" to display them)

while you may assume its the soundcard, someone may notice an incompatibility, or gain clues to the solution from the rest of your hardware.

3.25GB is an odd ram amount - how many sticks of ram are in the system, and what size/speed are they.

CPU-Z can help

My internet limit comes back tommorow, so ill download it, then tell ya :D but theres 2 of em, and their roughly the lenght of what normal RAM 'sticks' would be. I have nothing 'pimped' out on my system. Other than my quad core CPU, the rest is pretty standard.

Thanks again :D :respect:

thats what i figured, but his ram may need custom timings and voltages, and that may be causing his problems.

So far in googling his issue, two solutions have been presented: one is manually swapping the ram to something that isnt corsair (which seems odd), or manually setting timings and voltages.

The other, is to disable onboard sound, and get a dedicated sound card.

that sound plausible. so do i go to the shops and ask for a dedicated sound card? Thanks:respect::D

any old PCI soundcard would do, but we might as well work on the RAM side of things first - no need to spend money, if you can fix it in 2 minutes in the BIOS

So how would i go about fixing it from BIOS? and wait, im going to reinstall the driver, and turn down the acceleration. see if that helps....

Thanks aloottt! :respect::D

we'd need to know what ram you have, and since you dont seem to have that information we'd need to get it via CPU-Z
