Recommendations on a compact AMD CPU cooler

I've OC'ed my x2 4800+ to about 2.6Ghz which has made my CPU keep up with my X1950pro finally but the max load temp is 60deg on stock heatsink.

Room temp is about 18deg apparently according to the GURU clock.

I'd like some recommendations on CPU coolers which are effective yet don't take up much room as the 20-pin power connector is a stupid place on my AV8 motherboard.

By the looks of things I'd need to put in one pretty soon if I'm going to keep the CPU at these speeds.

go for the Arctic Cooling Freezer 64 Pro its rilly good even the standard past that comes pre-applyed (mx-1) is rilly good i used one on my old amd athlon 4000+ and now i got the freezer 7 pro on my e6600 and this just as good!

But yeah the freezer 64 is a good cooler. Also check out some of the coolers from sythe and zalman, they are pretty good too.

Most of the aftermarket coolers these days use heatpipes which usually make the actual heatsinks sit above the cpu, this means that the cooler should clear your power connector no probs.

Check out the new review here of the Sunbeam Silent Whisper. It does pretty well, it's small (based on a 92mm fan) and it sells for about $20.

I think I've seen one of those Arctic freezer pros going for a good price on the net here.
Wonder if I'll be able to OC this CPU more once I get a better cooler.

I had problems OCing it in the first place with the RAM I have since it's standard timings are 2.0-3-2-5.
Actually I couldn't as it would freeze everytime.
Went onto BIOS to OC and then it wouldn't boot and had to CMOS reset!

Bastard.

Had to loosen them up a bit to 3.0-4-4-8

Haven't tried any other timings yet, but the performacne is much better.

Yeah I'm jittering away in front of the PC and warming my hand on the exhaust fan with what little heat I can get from it.

Amen to that brother. It's a very good cooler. And the price is great.

yes, the freezer 64 pro is a good cooler for its price. it's kinda tall so I wouldn't say it's compact though.

you wouldn't be able to run the ATX power cable over the HSF, but since its not a "fat" cooler, you can run ATX power cable over side of the HSF.
