RFI/EMI in my earphones?

wrap the wire around it once or twice see if that helps.

These are the clip-on chokes. They look like little barrels and aren't set up for wrapping.

Detaching the chassis ground from the front panel connectors had no effect.

My "solution" is a dedicated Auzentech X-Fi Forte sound card with a built-in headphone amp. If I install the Auzentech (Creative) drivers, disable the Realtek Audio, and connect the Headset to the Auzentech jack, the EMI is so faint as to be virtually inaudible.

Why not take the headphone wire and wrap it around a ferrite bead? ::EDIT:: nevermind I didn't read some of the earlier posts.

There could be wire damage, the contact could be bad between phones and jack, or use another ferrite bead to test if that helps more?

That's my next card. How do you like it so far?

It's very nice indeed. Head and shoulders above the onboard audio, and it got rid of my interference problem, so it's all good. I have to turn the volume way down so it doesn't blow out my ear drums.
