Still better than Corsair CX and other similar crap people buys these days, at least this one has top-quality internals unlike those which I mentioned.

CX series is not crap. It features great price/performance ratio It is not worth to buy better PSU for 500€ build.

However Sama have great price/ performance ratio. They could very strong in 30-60€ PSU market. Sama based SilentiumPC unit delivered full power with excellent (for its price) DC quality. It has some problems when tried to deliver full power at 45C but for office, home entertainment PC or extremely cheap gaming pc results were OK.

No not really, CX is getting old, it's still an old double forward design with group regulation and the quality is mediocre.

Nowadays you can have PSU's with individual voltage regulation and a bid better build quality for the same price.

I must concur with the general consensus. Based upon the cons that I read, I would never buy this unit. I have no idea how this is rated 8.9/10.

Below is the general idea of what people think of when scoring:
5-avg
6-good
7-great
8-excellent
9-near flawless
10-flawless

Placing this review aside, placing all tech aside, anything rated 9 of 10 is near perfect. This unit is not anywhere near perfect. I think a 7.9 is much more representative of its qualities. Each whole number needs to mean a lot, and in this case it seems very misleading being that it certainly isn't near flawless.

Electrolytics used in CX-series are not crap? Mmmmkay.. Here in Finland we usually say that AX/AXi/HXi/RMi/RMx are the only Corsairs these days which are good quality units. I'll never even think about getting a crappy quality PSU, since few of my friends' computers had been broken partially when a crappy PSU have failed. Also my 6600GT died 10 years ago when I didn't realize that a crappy PSU can break hardware.

I simply prefer PSU's with Japanese caps, for polymer Taiwanese are ok and Chinese are passable, but not in electrolytics..

But again, that's just my opinion.

Low end =! crappy. A CX will not kill your computer unless it's faulty. In fact, very few PSU's these days will kill your hardware, if you stick to reputable sellers and avoid the €10 items from Ebay. Not even this puppy will kill your hardware, and before it got popular you could have it for 299SEK.

No, they are cheaperish ones of decent manufacturers.
That a 5k hours capacitor should last longer than a 2000h one should be obvious...

There are other non japanese companys that make quality capacitors. But I haven't seen those series yet...
The Teapo SY and SJ series (=better than the SC series) are seen in PSUs, but then again, the lifetime of a capacitor depends on diametre, ripple and heat.
So if you use those crappy 8mm ones with 1000-2000h lifetime in very hostile areas, it should be obvious that they fail.

And even the NCC KZE aren't that much better...

Also there are japanese capacitor, I don't see any sense in (like those NCC KRG ones). As well as bad/unreliable japanese capacitors.

So it would be nice if you would at least look up the datasheet of a capacitor before shouting some unproven things...
Especially since some series were improved by those manufacturers...

Or why do you think that CapXon calls their KF series not just KF in their datasheet but '2014 KF series'?!
Because those are better than their predecessors. And you always have to take the size of the cap into account!
For the mentioned CapXon KF series there is a difference of almost the lifetime of the 8mm Cap between the 8mm and 10mm ones!
The 8mm ones are mentioned with only rated for a lifetime of 3000h while the 10mm and bigger ones have a rated lifetime of 5000h.
Of course, that is the 2014 KF series...

( P.S. I think that since Aris added a new & highly crucial test, such as the combination of the Hold-Up time & the Power_OK signal, it's time to addapt a little his scoring methodology, and become a little more strict to whichever PSU greatly fails this test.
Lot of people in this thread asked for a little more strictness by Aris, and i have to say that i agree with them.)
