Niko actually the two cards perform similarly in lower rez with the gtx with only 2fps higher but according to vr-zone but as soon as you get into the high rez like 2560x1600 in real world gaming it beat the gt by 6fps at 1920x1200 the gtx is 5fps faster now due to the new aritecture and the fact 3dmark05 is old and doesnt utlize the gtx at all considering its built for shaderm 4.0 the gt actually beat it by about 900 but in 06 the gtx won by 273 but i expect that with the new 3dmark coming out we will see a little better the differences since it will utilze dx10.
check out the review http://vr-zone.com/articles/Nvidia_GeForce_8800_GT_Review/5369-1.html

i would keep your gtx and wait for a nice deal on newegg once the 9800s are out you might find one with a sick rebate too!

and to the kid asking about the g92 being dx 10.1 according to what i saw on newegg and zipzoomfly today they listed the cards as dx 10.0

DX10.1 is an update and will not require new hardware...

As far as the performance, thats loony, I can't imagine the cards in a set being a little slower, maybe current driver performance issues, that would make sense to me.

Are you sure there, 10.1 is a hardware update and then only supported by vista SP1 as far as i read, you can run 10.1 games when made on dx10, but to gain you do need a supporting DX10.1 card, which none currently are. Hopefully someone will correct me if i am wrong here.

correct what i have read is that the current gen of cards including the 8800gt do not meet the microsoft requirements for dx10.1 while some features the cards will support there are a few things in 10.1 that will not be supported basically what happened is when microsoft wanted to release dx10.1 with the initial vista launch it was going to be just dx10 but the hardware manufactures couldnt get all of the dx10 feature such and 32bit floating point and shader modle 4.1/5.0 still to be named as the two key non supported features by dx10. microsoft wanted so microsoft made a lower standard to get past launch with plans of the full version the now named 10.1 so the manufacuters new this and got as man features as they could on the current generation but there were a few things left out. Now mircosoft claims that you can play all dx 10.1 games that come out next century lol on standard dx10 but there will be some features not avaliable. and as far as im aware microsoft has only certified one dx10.1 card which is the hd3800xt

and to niko dude when you say a set do you mean sli as previously stated in sli yes the 8800 gt will out perform a gtx but is it worth the time to find someone to buy the card at a value you cant get cause if i was him i would want at least 600 for the card but currently you can get one for under 500 on new egg and you cant get two gts for that he is better serverd waiting till january when the 9800 are suposed to be avaliable they will be out for christmas but not in large quanties i hear but that could be speculaton but suposedly for sure in january and one 9800 will easily beat two gt i would dare to bet. and in single card set up it makes perfect sense the gtx still has more shaders and more ram dude so in s/m 4.0 and high rez and espically in real world gaming once you jack up the aa all the way and the af the gt shows the lack in the more modern memory interface and the increased memory it will still shows its dominace why would nvidia make a card that 300 dollars thats better than there high end card that would basically eliminate sales of the gtx and make it oboslete like they did to the gts line they basically refined the gts into a new card to what it sounds like eliminate options which is why they are coming out with a new gts that will be faster than the gt but slower than the gtx just streamlining there products the gtx and ultra are still king for overclocker and gamers and as far as ive seen there are not many other cooling solutions for the 8800gt but i could be wrong on that.....
