Hey everyone!
I just bought 2 Silverstone FM82 case fans, and I have been trying to figure out how to connect them to my fan controller (not the controller that comes with the fans) I will try to describe the problem as accurately as possible:
Look at this pic:
If you look closely, the fan has three connectors coming out of it:
1) The Molex Connector
2) A yellow wire with a brown plastic thingy on the end (to monitor RPMs)
3) A short connector with black tubing.
Now look at the controller: it has one connector, made of 2 wires (red and black).
So, to connect this fan, you need to connect the Molex connector, and to get speed controller, you need to connect #3 above (short connector with black tubing). If you only connect the Molex, the fan spins at full speed.
#3 has 2 female pins in its connector, whilst the Silverstone fan controller has 2 male pins.
The problem is that my fan controller has 3 male pins, to attach to the end of any other fan. Well, my controller actually has 2 male pins (with red and black wire), but it is a 3 pin connector.
Another observation I made was that underneath the black tubing of #3, there are 2 yellow wires.
So, any idea how I may connect with fan to my own controller? I don't have a spare 3.5 inch bay for the Silverstone controller, and even if I did, I want to control all my fans through one controller!
Many thanks guys!
