SMD lost on a Strix 3090 - Some Questions

Hello!

During the waterblock installation, i lost an SMD on the backside of my Strix 3090.
The card works still fine without this smd, so i am happy but also a little bit confused.

My questions are:

Why is the card still working? Are not all SMD required?
What ist the purpose of this particular smd?
What behaviour can i expekt from the card without this smd? Lower clock? Lifetime? Crashes?

From what i know it just filters the power to the GPU and if the card still works probably it will only affect overclocking potential. (but dont take 100% my word for it

)

I think if you stress the card to the maximum potential maybe it will show some symptoms. Try playing something demanding (maybe you already did) and see if the FPS or power delivery is messed up or something or if the card's behavior is different than it should've been.

input filtering cap. The card should be able to run just fine even with it missing.

Some parts are for protection

For example,

diodes can be placed across inputs to cope with over-voltage (static shock)
capacitors can be for shorting high frequency noise
