So I'll have around $250 for an upgrade, given my system specs what would you recommend I upgrade (and to what)?

Myself considering inno3d GTX470 Hawk or forking up additional dough for a Sapphire/PowerColor reference 6950 2GB

    Thoughts?

    EDIT:
    Gaming @ 1080p

Want to extract as much longevity as possible till my next upgrade

Do you have trouble running any games at this time with that setup?

We'll.. I've always wanted to see how Crysis/Warhead looks like with the bells and whistles (while NOT being a powerpoint presentation lol), also SplinterCell:: Conviction lags sometimes with the explosions and shiz

That and maybe the fact that I have never bought a high-tier graphics card for myself (the 260 am sporting now is a used-deal)... Am thinkin since my proc/mb/ram is about to be 'old-tech' soon with am3+ and SB on the way, if I invest in the gpu first then it may keep up with a better platform when I do upgrade

Or if you're an Nvidia nut, the new 560s are around 250.

Thanks jelly, don. Too bad the egg doesn't wanna hatch here :p

Prices are screwed up here in the Phils.. 5870's (all variants) here still cost as much as a 480 (~$410), 5850 still $10 above the 6950... the 470HAWK am quoting goes for around $240, while the cheapest 6950 (powercolor variant) is about $300. I think I can scrum up enough change for the 6950, but if the 470 will work with my resolution without my electricity bill skyrocketing then I am fine with that too.

GTX560 arent locally available yet, and like with everything new here it'll prolly get marked up by ~$20

How much more is a 470 over a 460 1GB (non-se)? That would be my choice if I had to do it all over again.

most 460 1gb are around $210, with certain models being even higher than that 470 I listed (MSI 460 1gb cyclone ~$250)

The 470Hawk apparently comes with no factory oc, but significantly better cooler than reference - source.. For some reason Inno3d is cheap here

I agree, but to stay in budget, go with the GTX470 Hawk.

We're not talking NewEgg though. Things are little bit more scarce so to speak in the Phill's.

    Update: Going 5870

    HI All,

Plans shifted a bit, ended up going for a 5mo used 5870 instead (price wise got it for around the same price as a vanilla GTX460), picking it up later... From your experience what's the best driver? 10.x or the latest?
