i have followed the advice here as my temp readings were like 75 for core which seemed really high. Even at stock bios it was around 67 which seemed crazy. so.. i used this to calibrate a bit:

http://64.233.183.104/search?q=cach...ate&hl=en&ct=clnk&cd=3&gl=uk&client=firefox-a

and now have some low readings. is this correct? basically my ambient was 7deg so i had an offset of around -22 for Tcase and a similar value for Tjunction

full load - stock bios - after 60 mins of prime95
TCase is 23
TJunction is 27

This seems a bit low. did i do something wrong?

full load - OC'd to 3.1 - after 60 mins of prime95
TCase is 27
TJunction is 32

the heak sink EVO120 does not really feel warm at all, thats touching the top of the processor part. even under heavy load

seems a bit screwy to me?
have you tried other 3rd party programs to read temps?

I tried TAT and that was around 72C under full load with stock settings and Zalman Fatality cooler. My thoughts was that 72C was way to hot to be accurate.

I have been running 3.1Ghz for a while now and its pretty stable.

easy way to check - get yourself directly into BIOS and see what the temp is there. if its 60-65 then its reading right and you should reapply TIM and reseat heatsink

+1 on that...run prime than do a quick restart and go diretly into bios and look at your temps...let us know what it says...if its runny that hot a your zalman you need to check to see if its on all the way and reapply the TIM

I am no longer using the Zalman but now have an Aksasa EVO120 which is a lot more quiet. i'll try BIOS check and report back. Thanks for the help.
