Sounds to me like you definitely don't have the game on highest settings. You're must be missing some options because it's impossible to play that game over 100 fps with your system on highest settings. Search around in the options more.

If you really want to torture your system, check out the SmP mod: http://gsc-game.com/index.php?t=community&s=forums&s_game_type=xr&thm_page=1&thm_id=17738&sec_id=17

    STALKER Complete is good.

If you want to throw together your own custom pack:

STALKER Weather Overhauled v3.0 - check out the screenshot gallery: http://gs90.photobucket.com/groups/k247/DVDS3MXO21/
    Argus' Photorealisitic texture pack
    Argus' Living Creatures texture pack

and there's countless other weapon skins available at FileFront and FPSBANANA.

    For audio, I highly recommend:

    Sound Overhaul v1.7 - by Darius6
Ambient Audio Overhaul v1.8 - by myself; + SWO3 installed
    Level Musics - by myself
    SoundEFX - by myself

Between Sound Overhaul and SoundEFX, you can pick and choose what sounds you prefer within the game.

I loved Oblivion Lost. I hated vanilla Stalker but OL was great.

even 20 FPS look high for me , i think you don't run DX10.1 , look to my system i run stalker with max setting and dx10.1 with 1280x1024 i get 25-30 FPS
