This really doesn't concern some of the more savvy members of our community but, for some of the noobs around here and people passing through I figured I would give them a heads up.
Steam has been a target for Phishing and Spam for a while. However large numbers of "Groups" have been popping up lately. Valve is aware of the issue and is trying to address it. However in the meantime I just want to remind people do not befriend anyone you do not know OR join any group you are not familiar with.
Its not only because you may click something malice, its more because if you join a malice group unwittingly Valve has been known to have a very wide ban hammer. You don't want to be caught up with trying to get your account unlocked with Valve.
