I am using SYY-157 on my 5600X, this application is about 6 months old now I guess.. still works good though..

I got a tube of TF7 for free with my PA120 SE.

Anything different/unusual about it?

It will be going on a 5800X3D.

My other option is an industrial paste that applies something like lithium grease mixed with hair gel... I should do a test of it vs others but I can't be bothered.

Wow good deal do0d!

I think it was the best TIM I have used so far, but I only bought one tube.. I will have to get another one. I am using Ceramique on my X3D right now, and an old SYY application with my 5600X.

Oops, see edit above.

Brain.exe has suffered a memory buffer overflow.

For years I used Fischer Elektronik's WLPF-20(?) paste, for I got that free from my work. I thought that, if it's good for tram's high power motor driver parts, it should be good for my CPUs.

Well, I don't have access to it anymore. I've been using the pastes that came with two Noctua coolers and one Alphacool AIO after that. Haven't noticed any big differences in temps. Just regular use, no OC.

Years ago used that paste with i7 2600K+Megahalems cooler and OC'd it to 4.2 or 4.3GHz just changing the multiplier. Never tried above that, it was enough for me.

Are there any tests to be found with WLPF pastes?

Fascinating
Home - Fischerelektronik, Product: WLPF 20

has a thermal conductivity of 0.5 W/m.K
I noticed that too. But it worked great.

I noticed that too. But it worked great.
It wasn't "the perfect" paste, as the oil (or something) separated if not used regularly or not shaken from time to time. But it did the cooling job fine. And by regularly I mean several months/allmost a year unused or untouched. They were in (too) big syringes and usage wasn't even weekly.

Maybe my use case is in lower reguirement class... So it doesn't really matter, what paste to use.

Still, it would be nice to see some reviews of it.

I'm not sure thermal conductivity is the be all and end all
  • 100W power
  • 3 cm x 3 cm area
  • 1/20th mm thickness
  • 20 W/m.K thermal conductivity
results in a 0.28 °C drop

So even a thermal conductivity of 2 W/m.K would have just 2.8 °C drop

Bear in mind that the temperature differential is often quite large between the IHS and the baseplate.

There are soooooo many variables that go into thermal conductivity that talking about the numbers is nearly pointless. The proof is in the pudding, as they say, and real world testing is what counts.

Yup. That's now my go-to.

Running it on Zen3, Zen4, and Alder Lake. Smooooth Sailing.

Goes on like decadent silver buttercream frosting.

Mmmmm. Frosting.

Hi,
Yeah I forgot I had that stuff already on my old laptop and put mx-6 on it the other day before I installed win-10 22h2 updates
Lets just say mx-6 isn't all that good there :/

Honeywell PTM7950 or some other PCM is what you should have used...

They usually send condoms when the paste is dense.
Good sign as I like dense pastes.

I just used tf7 for the first time but I have no point of reference as its a new build (13700k). Temps seem fine so far, idling around 35-37c with a pa120 and quiet curve. Haven't had anytime to do more than install w11 and the usual apps but am hoping to put it through it's paces this weekend. Then it's on to wcing, ugh.

No, those are ESD fingertips, to protect the MBO circuits while installing. ;)
