anyway i see some awesome deal in my local store Core I7 930 for 199..

so I'm very very tempting to upgrade my PC since i will only need to get the Gigabyte GA-X58A-UD3R mother board and a set of triple channel DDR3 ( will upgrade video card later)

my current system is running Q6600 with EVGA board and 8gig of DDR2 SLI 9800GTX+

i mean is a no brainer that Core I7 930 is hella faster CPU, but lately I dont do much of gaming since there are no games that attracts me that much... But i do have few games i'm eyeing on upon releasing soon such as star craft II , Diablo 3, Guild war 2, Final fantasy 14 etc i'd like to try them all.

but as of now i only use my current PC to browse web, download HD movies, nothing major that use alot of processing power..

do you guys think if i should drop about $560 to upgrade my system or leave it for now and the deal will come back again?

please advise...
Thanks in advance..

I say sell the pair of GTX+ and move to a GTX470 or HD5850. Don't bother with cpu/mobo upgrade for now.

There would be some bottleneck but it would still be a bit better than the GTX+ pair.

Don't take this the wrong way when I ask, what do you do that you would need 8GB for?

my job is to support the Foreign exchange tradings hence I have alot of Trading application open if i must work during sunday or weekdays from home. and these apps use alot of memory.

i have no choice but boosting to 8gb since i often use more then 4gb memory with all the apps open

Just curious. Yah really think you should wait though, in one thought I am thinking GTX+ SLI works really really well and another, current quad is pretty good too.

I agree, my thoughts on it is that Intel is going to be changing sockets and AMD has Bulldozer slated to be releasing end of this year beginning of next. Along with the rumors of HD6xxx cards out around the same time. Should give a price drop(my prediction: not a huge one) on some stuff.

Price drops won't be massive but seeing as what you've got atm is good anyway you can wait for a new socket and buy it, or take advantage of price drops on the old socket(s)

You should probably wait till next year before upgrading. The Q6600 is a good CPU that is more than enough to handle games this year. And those two GTX+'s should be able to play almost 95% of the games out there on max settings. ;)
