Unsure what memory to go with.

I'm new to tech powerup but i have read the forums with my son who has been a member for a while and thats why i am here. I'm getting ready to go to windows7 64bit and i want to go to 8 gigs of ram. I have 4 gigs of g. skill ripjaw 2000 mghz but i can't find 4 more gigs anywhere. G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 4GB (2 x 2GB) 240-Pin DDR3 ... I'm running a gigabyte p55a-ud3 mobo and an i7 860. There will be no over clocking so thats not the issue. The question is what would be better? Should i go to 1600, 1866, or 2133 mghz? I would go to the 2000 mghz ripjaw but like i said i just can't find it any where. The price for 8 gigs of those different speeds is minimal so thats not a problem. I just don't know what would be the best way to go. Any help or ideas would be much appreciated. Thank you!

First, what are you planning to do with the PC? Without that we cannot advise you well.
Secondly, could you please fill in your system specs in your user cp? It makes it easier for us to see what you have got without having to look in your posts, which is slightly easier.

IF you are looking to go 8GB on a gigabyte with an 860 CPU, my experience says you need to buy a new 8GB kit anyways. While four total memory sticks is feasible to run, the memory controller on that CPU wont like it very much.

I suggest that you get a new kit of memory, 4GB X 2 style kit. This will make life easy for you and the memory controller. As for the speeds, 1600 is sufficient, just get something with lower timings (IE lower than 9-10-9-27).

Ok a new 8 gig kit makes sense. I just didn't know what speed to go with becuase i have read different things in other places and i value the opinions and ideas here more.

you can go faster, but you have to set the XMP as you did with the 2000Mhz kit. So if I recall correctly, you have a 1600mhz divider, 1866, and 2000, I dont recall a 2133 divider.

i5 has 1333 MHz divider, i7 has 1600 divider, the rest when it comes to memory is bus clocking. Most ran with 200 Mhz bus when clocking, which brought higher mem dividers.

ENabling XMP profile for 2000 MHz sticks made most boards run 168 MHz bus.

I ahd no issues running 4 x 2 GB sticks @ 2000, but I had high-end memory, and a pretty darn good CPU.

still has dividers, but yes it adjusts the BCLK and lowers the CPU multi. Since he was already runny 2k sticks I assumed he knew where I was going.

Just wanted to maximize the best ram for a 64bit system on the hardware that i have without overclocking.

Well going back to what dave was saying, there is a 12X multi for the memory, so without moving the BCLK, 1600MHz is the better call over 2133Mhz which will need a 186MHz BCLK to pull off. In sort I would go with the CAS7 Vengeance @ 1600MHz (first ones you listed).
