My friend has a vista starter edition. He got one key for conversion to ultimate. But when he entered key he got this message

The product key you have entered will not work with this edition of Windows Vista™.

You must either run Windows Vista™ Setup or enter a Windows Vista™ Starter product key.

What to do ...plz help

Is in an Any Time Upgrade key? I think you need a disc for Vista to do that - you can also pop in your Vista DVD and do an 'upgrade' with that serial as well.

If it is a retail DVD, or asks for your key during setup, you can just run an 'upgrade' which will keepall your settings and files in place - but the OS will be Vista Ultimate rather than Starter as long as you use the ultimate key.

EDIT: If you can just borrow a Vista DVD, use that if you don't have one. ^_^

the Vista Starter DVD might not contain Ultimate? you'll probably need a Ultimate DVD?
