I am building my own computer, but I'm not sure which video card to get. I want to get an ati card that will play games like fear at 1024x768 with high settings. Since this will only be a temporary card to hold over till dx10, Im looking for something fairly cheap. Thanks.

well currently i would get a x1650 or x1800xt as they should be around the 150-180 mark. i reccomend somthing high end as dx10 will not be mainstream for over 2 years so why not get your mony's worth?

X800 cards good as you know, there a little pricey but there the best out there if you just need it to sort you out for the time being, very good at playing FEAR in all its glory.

well mike unless u plan on getting a x1950 or somthing there isnt anything for at least another 6-9 months. as i said before dx10 will not be in the picture for well over a year and any card will be able to run software dx10 at a performance hit.
anything weaker then a x1800gto will not suffice for a year to a year and a half.

thats borderline in my opinion but if you overclock that a little i dont see why not on 1024x768

I have a x800xt agp at 540/540 and i can run f.e.a.r. at 1024x768 with no problem. the funny thing is im selling that to my dad with my cpu and mobo for 200$ and just bought a dfi xpress3200 and an opteron 144, im planning on getting a directx 10 card mid novemberish.
