Hey guys, I just switched camps going from green to red for one of my computers.
It's sort of an experiment for me. I always wanted to try the red stuff but never could bring myself to do it until now. Green always worked good for me and I became comfortable with them.
But since the machine I am working on has a X-fire mobo (no SLI) anyway, I figured wth, lets give red a try. And I read so much good stuff here about red at TPU that I took the leap. Now if my new card works nice, I may even order a second on and X-fire the machine.
As you might pick up, I am not an expert in any of this stuff, so I am going easy, one step at a time, and slow.
Now for the real purpose of this thread...My new XFX HD-687X-CNFC Radeon HD 6870 will arrive tomorrow and I an thinking about the install. The current machine is setup for Nvidia and is running Driver Version nvlddmkm 8.17.12.8562 (Forceware 285.62) /WIn 7 64.
How do I uninstall the Nvidia stuff so I can install the AMD stuff --- WITHOUT getting into trouble?
I remember once a few years back, I uninstalled some Nvidia driver stuff and the machine wouldn't boot after that. The details are fuzzy now, but it was a struggle to get it running again.
Something about me choosing a complete un-install vs. a partial un-install.
I'd like to make the switch as easily as possible, without issues.
Can someone give me a bit of help on this?
Thanks.
