Finished Miles Morales and decided to hop back into Forza again for a bit before Uncharted.
Bought a Z06, but the audio on the engine/exhaust isn't right, it's way too muted :/

I never cared for Wave Race.

It was no RC Pro-Am. Physical brutality of diving incredibly high powered stand up jetski underwater was a feature no other game has touched. Above water racing was equally nuts. Surface tension on a lunar lake would be interesting.

Both COTW are now melting my GPU following update to the older one yesterday. 40C difference looking at the sky compared to doing anything else. New maps and other improvements this was a test for are only going to make matters worse. I want below freezing Winter temps I can let my PC breathe in back immediately. Too much!

Just wasn't the game for me Jet Moto was more entertaining to me personally. It had more of a X Games feel to it or Motorcross meets X Games On Land/Water/Ice/Snow Jet Ski's it was a wild arcade feeling racer with some stunts.

Top Gear / Racer Collection, of all things. It's really 3+1 ROMs wrapped in an emulator wrapped in a Unity Engine (with SNES-like FPS for boot; would like if there's an enhanced mode with everything 60FPS), with a completely out-of-place menu, a quick race mode & time attack mode with online rankings, and a completely not working online mode. Not that I would ever play this on online, but it would be really cool if I can play this with my dad online. (Top Racer 2 on SNES is the first video game I have ever played, back when I'm ~3 yrs old. Nah, I don't think the online play function will ever work.)

But, man, that's too much good nostalgia, and the BGMs on Top Racer 1 is glorious.

Mate, if you want a fluid and modern Top Gear game, look no further than Horizon Chase Turbo. Even its soundtrack was composed by Top Gear's Barry Leitch.

I know, and it's on my wish list on Steam. By the time I finished Top Racer Collection, Horizon Chase Turbo should be on sale, I guess...

Driving a VW Golf ?
:D :D
May have mentioned this before, so apologies if repetitive. I don't talk cars often (I owned Hondas/Toyotas and an Acura before this; pretty boring).

OT:

Dude, I almost bought a Golf, but my area has roads that need high clearance and weather that I don't think a Golf would've been the best choice. Also, yeah, it's a Golf, but still...don't underestimate them!

If I were a kid (at the time), I may have gone that route. Maybe not, because I've always liked to sit higher up, but I truly do get the following of the Golf for those that IYKYK.

Bought a (Stage 2+) Q5 modded to (better than a) SQ5 instead (the OO must have also had a mid-life crisis: they did the catback/radiator/pullys/supercharger/grill/blackout/EVERYTHING), but there are times I might have made that different choice. Both are surprisingly ridiculously easily mod/tunable for fairly cheap. Not being a mechanic or anything of the sort, I think the (dealer-meant) software is really neat as well (you can program a bunch of weird/'fancy' stuff, even with the FOB) and why I didn't buy a comparable (x3 [x5 was a little too big/expensive] for me) Bimmer, which I still think looks freakishly ugly (you may not agree and I respect that; you have to understand I looked at them both for a REALLY long time). Also, a high-end Xdrive was impossible to find ANYWHERE (at that time).

Also, I would never be the type to want nor be able to afford a Cayenne. I had a friend with one, and it gave them nothing but trouble, but anyway.

I'm a geek (and was a half-hearted wannabe 'ricer' child); I wanted a sleeper car so I would be less-likely to get a ticket. I get that some people want flash, a certain brand, and have no taste (kidding, kidding :)).

These days I'd probably go electric (if I could find one I liked, could afford, and work for the conditions in my area). This was the ONE time I forewent SOME practicality to have some fun, if some would call it that.

/OT
Still playing a bit of The Talos Principle 2 - been stuck on a few puzzles, and refuse to cheat :p

Also been playing a bit of horizon zero dawn in preparation for the soon to be released forbidden west !

Good on ya for playing TP2 TWIMTB...Experienced.

As for Horizon ZD and FW: Glad you're having fun. I enjoyed those games a very average amount and they left me very whelmed (although I'll always appreciate some of the story-telling devices and ofc Lance Reddick). That said, if you give me a game where I can run around hitting something with a stick, and the stick-hitting animation feels solid and/or have that tangible resistance/slowdown (that I can't articulate very well but iykyk), I will probably play that game. It's kind of like Monster Hunter to me. Do I enjoy it? I very much played it for quite a while and did not hate the game-play loop. I do, however, quite enjoy the weird characteristics of the stick (insect glaives) in MHW, likely very much more than most people.

Back to Horizon, I sincerely appreciate the devs went back and added this to it, which I thought was VERY thoughtful and noteworthy. While I understand why they wouldn't do that (for story reasons), I'm glad they did. While I had already finished the game by that point, some areas gave me flashbacks to this and this, which apparently subconsciously traumatized me as a child, as I still remember them and wince.

Trying out Vindictus: Defying Fate's pre alpha on Steam.
This is something I could not pass on to check, the first Vindictus game was THE MMO experience for me when I was still playing such games actively.
Well ok it was a HUB/dungeon based MMO but still, played it actively for 7+ years and sometimes I still miss it. 'its still alive but its a shadow of itself so I've quited years ago'

Yep this is a pre alpha alright so excuse the weird resolution but I have to play it in windowed mode 1920x1080 cause it has no ultrawide support at this point and my another UE 5 engine tweak doesn't seem to work here. 'still better than the first game running on Source engine that was 1 core dependant and caused a lot of headaches back then with the terrible performance'
This alpha runs fine for me on high preset and with DLSS Quality but I assume it doesn't have much optimization yet so its ok.

Man this brings back some memories instantly and I'm glad that they pretty much kept the combat style/controls cause thats what got me hooked to the first game in the first place and then later other things.
Supposedly this is a side story/game to the original Vindictus so nope this aint Vindictus 2 and it will be single player with optional co-op features when its relased. 'this alpha is single only'
They also said this game will have less skimpy outfits/armors than the first game but no no Vindi is not a Vindi game w/o those so they better keep some like the ones in the alpha.

O ye the game showed this in my face when I started it up:
VindiControllerlol.jpg

Ye get that shaite out of my face, after playing the first game with a keyboard+mouse for thousands of hours there is no way in hell I'm touching a controller with this one.
If the alpha would let me re bind my keys then I could pretty much instantly play this char 'Fiona' the way I used to in the original game, I still remembered the combos and whatnot after a few mins of playing.

I really hope that this project will be finished at some point cause this is something I would love to play as a single player game and with some of my old Vindi friends who I still talk to. Supposedly its been in development for 1 year only so its a long way off even if they finish it.

I know, and it's on my wish list on Steam. By the time I finished Top Racer Collection, Horizon Chase Turbo should be on sale, I guess...
Well looked up my Humble Choice Library and sure enough Horizon Chase Turbo is Dec 2019. The mention of Top Gear got me interested. The beauty of Humble Choice has me playing in about 15 minutes.

I know I'm biased to recommend Horizon Chase (it's Brazilian-made), but the game is really good. And as I mentioned earlier, the same composer who did the old Top Gear OSTs did Horizon Chase's. It's amazing (including a throwback remix).

I just tried it and I was in my basement circa 1989 again.
