Its a Dell 0M2035, people say conflicting things about Dell computers, some say you can't OC their cpu's and some do, so I am trying a sys tool, no success yet.

I don't think systool will work with Dell boards. Its the motherboard that has the clockgen not the cpu.

Yeah, new AMD64, new mobo and ram. Only got a Sapphire x700 256m, but I have installed a Zalman VF700, and it runs ok, it will do for now.

£500 really is alot.
you can probably get most of the makings of a whole new system with that.

I think a good AMD processor is about 300 though, does not leave a lot to play with.

unless you plan to do some serious compiling and stuff, there's no *real* reason to go all out and get something top-of-the-line...

i got my s754 athlon 64 2800+ like half a year ago, and its serving me very very very well. although i did OC it to 2ghz from its stock 1.8ghz... :)

Is that faster than my P4 2.8, I am new to this upgrading and overclocking game, only just started to upgrade after playing the likes of Doom 3 and that Fear demo, realised I need some more power.

generally, AMD cpu's are considered more "powerful" than their intel counterparts.

the one i'm running (s754 2800+, that i oced from 1.8ghz to 2ghz) is probably equivalent to something like 3ghz P4.

but i havnet benchmarked my system ever since i've reinstalled the OS... (dont ask... long story) so i cant really say for sure...
