I'm using MSI Afterburner with my GIGABYTE GTX 650 Ti and I was wondering what settings would you guys use for this card. While playing Borderlands 2, my highest temp was 53C with the fan going at 30%. What fan profile would you guys use to keep the card cool?

Temperatures differ from card to card, you seem to have a nice and cool GPU.

So it's ok if I leave the fan on auto?

It's normally the OK method to leave the fan on AUTO. Changing the settings from AUTO is normally what leads to circumstances which are considered to be not ok. Not to say you can't manually control your fan... Just keep a close eye on the temps... Sometimes the properties of the thermal paste change, or something else may occur.

The general starting fan profile I like to use is 40%@40°C and 100%@80°C. I think figure out the overclock the card is capable of and tweak the fan profile from there. If it is running pretty cool I'll change it to say 100%@100°C so the fan ramps up slower, or if it is running a little warm I'll change it to 100%@70°C so the fan ramps up faster. Generally I prefer the GPU to stay under 80°C, especially on nVidia cards since that is the point where the driver will start cutting the boost clocks. Not that that really matters with a 650Ti since they don't boost.

When on air, I usuallyt set the fan to a little custom curve, soething a little more aggressive that would leave the gpu a little cooler than on default settings.

Leaving the fan on auto should result in decent temps and fine performance, but I"d usually prefer a little more awesomeoness!
