whats a good cheap 1920x1080 monitor?

So ive been using my 22" syncmaster 226BW for some time now and i've loved it. But I really want to game at 1920x1080. So im looking for a pretty cheap 22" or slighly larger if the price is right but 1920x1080 native res.

Possibly the viewsonic VA2223WM? seems like the price is really good. The only thing is it's 5ms rather than my samsung which is only 2ms.

Whats your thoughts? any other recommendations in that lower price range?

My thoughts would be to sell a 5850 and stick with what you have.

I doubt you would ever notice a difference in speeds. Manufacturers play games with those numbers. I love my Samsungs (206BW and 2440BX). I have always liked Viewsonic as well, those new LED backlit ones look pretty sharp.

I had thought of that but as time goes by im going to need more and more gpu grunt for up and coming titles. I'd prefer to keep the cards as the system games perfectly as it is. I'm aware that i'm not getting much extra performance out of the second card right now but a 1920x1080 screen would help get more out of the gpus. I just have had my pc hooked up to a couple of my friends 1080 monitors/tvs and fallen in love with the resolution.
I also do a lot of browsing/multitasking so the extra room i'd gain by having the higher resolution would be really handy too.

What's your budget? If you can spend around $250-$275, take a look at Dell's U2311H, which is an e-IPS monitor and has a pivotable stand. You can get it for around that much if you use the 20% off Dell Small Business coupon, there are a couple of threads about the deal on Slickdeals and a big thread about the monitor on [H].

*edit: nvm, you need a 22in.

Does Lenovo still sell their 22" 1080p monitor? Can you not buy another Syncmaster?

You maxing all current titles? AA and whatnot?

Not much really to choose from in the 22" screen size tho on NewEgg @ 1080p. Maybe go up to a 24"?

i've just seen the chimei CMV 24EH 24" 2ms for $298.00 NZ and the AOC 2434PW 24" 2ms for 298 NZ also. They look quite nice.

Edit : yeah wow that 2236vwa is a really good price. 22" 5ms and $228.00 NZ

my samsung 2494HS, i upgraded from the 226BW and dont regret it at all... this one has far better image quality.

Ive just thought of another thing. HDMI would be great, the AOC 2434PW has HDMI, i haven't found out if the Chimei CMV24EH does though. And is Chimei a decent brand when compared to viewsonic,samsung and aoc?

chimei is a cheap brand - they tend to have bad backlight bleeding. AOC is also cheap.

my advice is go samsung, LG or viewsonic (in that order)

TN panels are normal/cheap LCD panels like the rest of them... the problem is that they use cheap assembly methods so they have backlight bleeding. the panel isnt the concern, tis what goes around it.

Unless you count in IPS panels. Better visual quality on them, but you pay more. ^^

that is a good choice

what do you think of the VX2250wm-LED from viewsonic? it's LED rather than just standard LCD. How would the backlit LED compare to a LCD TN Panel?

I'd look at moving to a 24" if it's around the $300 NZ mark too

As nice as the vx2260wm is, I can get the VX2433wm for the same price. Still 2ms and hdmi too. It's looking the best for the price so far i've found.

It's an LCD with LED backlighting. Same type of panel but more accurate colors since the backlighting shouldn't have any tint to it. It might offer better contrast as well, though. Not entirely sure. Don't confuse this with OLED screens, where the individual pixels are LEDs and require no backlighting.
