Hey guys so 3 months ago I bought a used gamer pc build by a buddy of mine. I paid 350 USD for of and 2 24 inch samsung monitors. Here are specs
Case antec twelve hundred h3.
MB evga 779 ultra sli
Cpu Q9650 3.0
GPU evga nvidia 680 2 gig
Psu antec 1000w
Ram fatality 2x8 gig 2400 hertz.
Issue is I'm running tripple 24s and I been talking to a lot people. Most recommend to upgrade mb cpu. I only play iracing and project cars. Its a iRacing dedicated pc.
I have budget of 500 USD which mb and cpu can I buy under that price . that will be good enough for while. Around 2 years. I'm not planning to play other games. IRacing . which at 3840x1080 red uses 1100mb vram and 900 mb ram.

That CPU is 100 years old (in computing terms). So, yes. You need new mobo, CPU, and RAM.

Sorry but your find No Socket 775 Motherboard had DDR4
either you cannot read the Spec or you have been Mislead

the rest of your listed spec are suspect to
that motherboard evga 779 ultra sli is for a i3/i5/i7 and not a Q9650 Socket 775

sorry your right I just checked my RAM it is DD3. however ram is not that expensive. i can cut cost down on which CPU to get.since the ASUS Z170-A is only 155 USD. if i can find a descent CPU for 200 -250 it be awesome. any recommendations? it does not have to be i7. i just need run stable iracing. i only play 2 games, and they are not extremely demanding.

Q9650 and DDR3 in an EVGA motherboard, the OP has an EVGA 790i SLI Ultra, FTW, or FTW Digital motherboard. All of which is irrelevant in upgrading as even the DDR3 RAM is more than likely 2 volt RAM, where newer generation motherboards uses 1.5 volt DDR3 RAM.

The ASUS Z170-A is a decent OC'ing motherboard that would work great with a i5 6600k and 2*8 gigs DDR4 2400 RAM

Again, I told you in your other thread, which seems you've completely overlooked it, but just because you do not see full utilization of the vram, does not mean performance is going to be good or bad. You could have a weak GPU with a lot of memory and play a game where you aren't using all the memry but performance is still shitty. Which then its not a vram limitation.

Then jsut get some memory. 8GB(2x4GB) DDR4 2133mhz. Crucial Ballistix Sport seems to be good ram from what I understand. Used it in a few Skylake builds ive done.

I can read , but it says evga 779 ultra sli, not 790i ultra....

Yes an i5 would be a nice upgrade, Project Cars loves the new Skylake CPU.

Typo dude. There was no such Nvidia chipset called 779. It ended at 790i.
