Hi I have the MSI gaming 5 z97 motherboard.

I noticed there's an internal USB header to plug in a USB 3.0 cable and that cable ends with 2x USB 3.0 ports. I wanna make sure that I buy the right USB 3.0 INTERNAL adapter for there are quite a few of them.

I'm looking to use the cable to bring 2x USB 3.0 Ports to the front of my PC. So which adater do I need? Or should I buy a multi-box (capable of handling SD cards... USB ports and much more)

I am a bit surprised that case is still being offered by NZXT with only USB 2.0 up front. That said, most folks don't need 3.0 for temporarily attached devices (the most commonly used in front).

I agree with Athlonite and that 3.5 hub with 5.25 adapter bracket is what you need if you really want front panel ports. But to me, and particularly because your case has a front door, you might just consider an External Hub w/pwr adapter that you can put anywhere on your desk without messing with the bays, front of your computer, or its front door. Nor will you have to worry about overloading the power capacity of your motherboard's integrated hub. This is what I would use if my case did not already support USB 3.0.

what do you mean by "Nor will you have to worry about overloading the power capacity of your motherboard's integrated hub. This is what I would use if my case did not already support USB 3.0." ??

Also, I'm planning on getting one of those multi-input boxes such as these:

He's talking about a external hub with it's own power supply. But really you don't have anything to worry about. Ether way is fine

Although it not USB 3.0 it's power runs off a power adapter plugged into the wall

Right! With an external hub that has its own power supply, you can connect many devices that get power through the USB connector and not worry about drawing too much power through the motherboard's connector. It is not common, but it does happen. I note some users have USB powered speakers, USB powered scanners, and USB powered drives, plus USB wifi and Bluetooth adapters and more. Too many USB powered devices through one port can overload it.

Note that your 3rd choice (and you can't tell with the 4th) protrudes out the front of the bracket by what looks like a good 1/2 inch. That may be enough to prevent your door from closing. If you really want one of those drive bay types, I would stick with one like your first two choices that have a flush face.

Does your front door come off easily? I ask because I had my camera's USB cable connected to a front panel port on a case with a front door. My grandson was so intent on seeing the photos he accidently pushed the opened door back too far and snapped the hinges. It was my fault because I knew better having almost broke them before with my knee when the door could have been removed easily if pulled straight out. I just didn't want to deal with storing the door somewhere. :(

So if you are going to get one of these drive bay devices, instead of a hub like Jesters, I recommend removing the front panel door.

Thanks. I am often accused of being too windy/wordy, so this is much appreciated.
