Which Cooler for 4690K?

I've got enough spare parts to put together another Z97 rig. I know all the components I'm using except the cooler, I've got 3 to pick from in my parts bin. I pretty much already know what I'm going with, just curious what everyone else would pick.

Corsair H60 v2 - Liquid Cooler
Xigmatek Achilles II HDT-SD1284 - 4x 8mm Direct Touch Heatpipes
Thermalright Ultra-120 - Non-Extreme so only 4x 6mm Heatpipes

All coolers will use the Corsair SP120L fan that comes with the H60.

Rest of the system specs:

i5-4690k
16GB DDR3-1600
AsRock Extreme4 or Z97X Killer(not sure which I'm gonna use yet)
2x1.5TB HDD RAID1 + 32GB SSD
GTX650Ti(GTX960 in a week or two)

If you plan on overclocking, then go the Xigmatek
If you are leaving it stock the AIO cooler will do the job.

TBH I would assume the Corsair to do the best, assuming all coolers are using stock fans.

Also I see you are opting to use the SP fans on all coolers, the xig and TR cooler had more CFM, you may have to test and see if static pressure is enough to compensate for the loss of 20-30 CFM.

I've installed the H60 on 2 computers for friends using 3570k and 4690k and i can tell you the fan is dead silent even under load and the temps are below 50c on stock under load and below 65c with mild overclock.

Corsair Fans are pretty good option.... SP120mm fans i think trhey are...

Fans that come with the H60 are close, but not the same fans as retail versions.

Just to clear things, there isn't a single degree Celsius of difference with SP120's and the fans provided with the H60 or the H105 that i have, provided they spin at the same speed ofc. The advantage of the fans included in the corsair AIOs is that they have 4pin connection.

The normal SP120 fans can be bought with 4 pin connectors as well. The SP120L fans spin at, I believe, 200RPM faster than the normal SP120 Pereformance fans. The only reason I'm using the SP120L is it is the best fan I have in the junk box, the rest are just generic 120mm fans I pulled from cases and crap.

Also, I ended up going with the Thermalright Ultra-120. Reason? It was the only one I could find 1150 mounting hardware for. :cool:

Look at the specs of the Corsair H60V2 and any of the SP120 versions. All SP120 fans that come as fans only are over 60CFM, the ones shipped with the AIO are rated at 54CFM. Does not seem the same to me, so you haven't cleared anything really

@newtekie1 ... that makes the choice more obvious. If things don't pan out so well temperature wise, I may have a fan or 10 you can choose from.

You're correct, I got the specs backwards. The standard SP120 fans spin slightly faster than the SP120L fans(350RPM to be exact).

If it its up to the task, I've got some 38mm thick Delta's at work I pulled from a server that I can use...

Well the thing is, I have checked the SP120's (both L and normal editions) and the fans given on my H105. At 1200rpm, all fans have the same exact temperature with prime95 on a 4.4ghz i7 4930k (i let each set of fans on the radiator for 15mins or so). It is most probable that Corsair's H60v2 fans are rated at 800 or 1000 rpm, since my fans from the H105 are running at 800-1000rpm all the time, while the SP120L are rated at 1200rpm and the normal SP120 are rated at 1800rpm.

But anyway,lets not steal the OP's thread

The extra CFM is from the extra RPM on the normal SP120 fans. Otherwise they are designed identically, so at the same RPM they push the same CFM and will have the same performance.
