You can also get some for that price from EVGA's b-stock. I actually just traded a guy a laptop for one from there, and there's absolutely nothing wrong with it. I'm pretty sure it was B stock just because of a slightly bent heatsink fin... I bent it straight and it's good as gold.

I hadn't seen that one just the typical benchmarks floating around which show AMD taking quite a lead especially in DX12/Vulkan titles. It is curious to see the DX12 AMD vs DX11 Nvidia comparisons slipped in and really shows how much the 480 will continue to increase in lead as newer games using the new API's come out. There was no change for nvidia between 11/12 OGL/vulkan which doesn't spell good news in the future. Thank you for the link.

Out of curiousity does anyone actually play quantum break or ashes? I would love to see the review without those two lol

I think those games are specifically tough benchmarks for DX12, perhaps more rigorous than Firestrike due to so many objects in motion.

980Ti doesn't even match the 1070, forget the 1080...

True, 980ti doesn't even come close to 1080. About 30% slower from what I've seen. But it does match the 1070, nearly identically. And can be had for 100 bucks cheaper.

Honestly Yes the rig will Do just fine with those 2. Same for a Phenom II system. But between the 970 and 980 I'd go 980 or 980 TI and call it a day.

@t77snapshot. It is best to do what you feel is right for you. I went 290 VaporX in 2014 despite newer stuff around the corner and I couldn't be happier.

Fair enough... We could argue aaaaall day long, and post benchmark after benchmark. Ive found several where the 980ti even beat the 1070. But the truth is, at 1080p and 1440p, real-world performance difference that you can truly see, is going to be negligible.

how about we just simplify this stuff down:

9x0 and 10x0 will work just damn fine on your system, but you'll be holding the card back without significant CPU and RAM overclocks.
Nothing stops you getting an overkill GPU now, and using it for your next upgrade - so start posting about cards you wanna buy

In some titles..least we conveniently forget to mention. At this point they trade punches and pricing is similar. It's a tough choice now considering performance and price.
