win xp sp2 help

first off im a newb and i didnt know where to post this.....

i had win xp on my comp and i upgraded to sp2 through the auto updates and it worked fine for a long time but recently i had to do a whole new install from my win xp cd and it wouldnt load so i got a win xp sp2 cd and it installs fine and it even loads all the way to the desktop (only just after installation and xp walthrough and all that) but when i restart my comp it shuts down all the way and come back on then loads the screen where it has the win xp logo and the loading bar, after that it just goes black and stops loading, my light on my moniter turns from green to orange and it just make the noises as if its loading...

Sounds like it could be a hardware problem, maybe the hard drive, I can't say for sure.

ive started it up successfully in safe mode so im guess theres like a device or driver problem? i dont know hopefully yall do. what if i rollback/update them? what if i disable all devices?

any ideas?

Hmm..

Usually when this happens to me, I just format my Hard drive, and do a fresh install of XP.

ive done this literally 7 times....yes 7...no luck yet


ill be back on later im going to home depot for a sledge hammer
