this is what is getting me, ok Cat 9.3 Was the last ver to support the card before AMD decided to start going to a 3-4 Month release, well i tried installing cat 9.6 Win 7 and nothing seems to happen, nothing gets installed other than CIM and C++ 2005?

I see a forum but they dont specify if its hotfix drivers or what, as hotfix were needed for XP and vista due to the way the drivers access DX for AGP parts (Radeon 9500-HD 4K)

Install the CCC

Then go to device manager, go to update driver. Then say you want to chose which driver to install. Say have disk, look up the INI file in the driver folder. Pick your card, and then install it.

thx all, i just learned something, the Hotfix AGP WinXP 9.3 Driver doesnt allow transparent effects for the taskbar, the default 7 Driver does, im thinking about removing all driver cruft and trying the Win 7 Driver, i just hope when i run DX diag that it doesnt fail, im going to probably get driver cleaner too

Ok im out of ideas as of what a decent driver would be, ive tried the AGP XP 9.3s and what happens is the Windows Perf Eval goes to 1 because it's a non WHQL driver. I lose Windows Sky Appearance (Aero Glass) the OS reverts to Aero Basic Theme. I wound up system restoring to the very first restore point (default Win Driver intact, everything back to normal). Im just looking for a driver for this machine to make it function at its best perf in games since Generic Drivers dont cut it. I've also tried to use the Win7/Vista 32 Driver and it doesnt provide me the Exact card i have (ati radeon x1950/sapphire x1950) thru the process stated below, Im just wondering if i can modify the driver to fit my need but i dont know how to do that stuff.

have you just picked one or the other?

After you installed the driver did you go to my computer and re-run the performance check?

You have to score a 3 or higher for areo affects/

ok Heres the story, i found this link finally, i grabbed the Vista 9.3 AGP Hotfix, went the rounds with setup, got it setup, tried installing using manual method, the 1950 Pro wasnt being detected as of the listing, so I managed to find this link to fix the inf

http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/5571-ati-hotfix-9-3-install-problem.html

had to copy all that code and replace the code in the inf, wala the Hardware setup detected the card, and i went from there, I re-evaled the system, Score is

CPU 3.6
Ram 4.4
Graphics 6.0

All Eye Candy and Functions Enabled.

Man it was a Chore!
