Hey guys, ive got an x1900XT and i think its a REAL crappy oc'er or i must be doing something wrong lol, i can not even get 700/800 for core/mem AT ALL with all types of volts!!! I am using 6.7 ati drivers and Ati tool 0.25 beta 14, and about to try beta 16.

Any advice? i am also using Accelero x2 for cooling and temps are fine.

Also my mem is BJ11, which is rated at 800mhz apprently :O.

anyways i've had enough trying to overclock this card for 2 months now its stupid!!!! :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:   and crashing all the time is pissing me off big time!!!

To make things worse...BJ11 is rated for 900 MhZ:ohwell:
But i feel your pain,I too cannot even get to the top clocks in overdrive while my memory
should be rated for 800 MhZ:banghead:

Hello all;) I just have join this forum..I also get myself a x1900xt 256 from Sapphire, and it has BC12 chips from Samsung, so I guess these are 1.2ns..But the card is actually enough overclockable; With AtiTool b14 I was able to do 702/820@1.45VGPU. The only problem is AtiTool; FearCombat doesnt work if its turned on. Wizzard has to do some work:) But RivaTuner does not support voltage tuning.. So, any alternative maybe? I just love the AtiTool, I have been using it since my x800@x850xt, and its just the best OC utility..But This R580 seems to be a bit more difficult to make it work perfectly.

X1900 GT Amazing overclocker

Hi,

This is my first posting.

I got the Saphire X1900 GT , it's an LE core so no 16 pipes for me :( .

But I did manage to overclock it very high.
The best technique that worked for me is by using the ATI Tool 0.25 Beta 14

And NOT the one that's optimized for the X1900 GT, because that one gave me lower scores in the 3D Marks.

Ok so I'm using the regular beta 14, and I need to up my voltage, so I do that with ATI Overclocker utility. I launch overclocker I up the core voltage to : 1.550, which gives a true voltage of: 1.50 on the core. Then the memory I up to 2.2 for both settings in overclocker.
Don't know true voltage that gives though , I never checked.

Ok so now I click on the 2d radio button and then back to the 3d radio button , just so overclocker can think we changed something, and it will set the new voltages.
Now I leave overclocker alone and just use ATI Tool to overclock.
And ATI Tool will shutdown automatically the 2 ATI services running.

With this method I've reached my all time highest overclock with the card.

Core = 729 MHz
Memory = 842 MHz

And it is great bu tnot perfect.

It's rock stable on the desktop, in 3D mark, but not in all games I've tried.

At the above clocking, the FEAR Demo , and AoE III , refuse to launch.

But my other games launch with no problem , even HL2 Episode 1 so 2 games out of 10
that i have ain't so bad.

But I did extensive benchmarking and the added MHz did not correlate to that many more frames in the games and the extra heat the card produces at the above clocks it's just not that worth it. But I have the Sytrin VF1 + so it's not too bad for me.

I am trying to put up my 1st ever review and it will be on this card , and I will have more data on the normal & overclocked performances.

Can you check what voltage are set for your mem?
I have 1.84v in Atitool but my memory won't go higher than 775 even with 2.084v.
I also use Winclk to overclock,i just have to disable the Ati services and overclock in 2d mode because i can't set all voltages in 3d mode and i don't trust Atitool atm.
I do check Voltages and artifacts with Atitool and set fanspeeds.
Rivatuner also works btw.

Its not your card, it is ATiTool who has problems..

About VDIMM, it is stock@1.84V. If I use RivaTuner, I can set it at 846, but RT uses higher ram timings, so I get even less score in 3DMark05.. I hope soon AT will be fixed as it should be:)

Heylow Gas,
I have the same x1900xt 256mb and I wanted to know your Video RAM settings.
I wanna know what kind of cooling do you use? air, water, zalman VF900cu, accelero x2.

Hello Gooseone,

I don't think it's an issue with the voltage on the mem. Sorry but i don't have any numbers for you at this time, since I've installed and playing around with Vista RC1.
But I remember that with ATI overclocker the mem set at : 2.15 will be even higher in ATI Tool. But the card has decent RAM chips, set the voltage to : 2.092 or 2.096 and it should reach 800 MHz easy.

I had a similar issue when i was using ATI Tool 0.25 Beta 15.

It was wierd it appeared as though I couldn't go higher than what the MAX (greyed) out numbers were in the ATI CCC overdrive utility.

But again wierd because my core would max out at 680 MHz , which was a bit higher than the 650 in the CCC.
But the ram would NOT budge any higher than 720 MHz , and this was the exact max number CCC showed for the memory.

I couldn't get anything higher for both clocks , even if CCC overdrive was locked or unlocked that didn't matter. And that was unnacceptable , lol.

The only way I could push the clocks higher was to use ATI Tool 0.25 Beta 14 with overclocker.

In overclocker :
I set core voltage to : 1.550, which gives a true voltage of: 1.50 on the core. Then the memory I up to 2.2 for both settings in overclocker.
(I'll recheck this and let you know the true voltages ATI Tool gives)

But these settings were a desperate attempt to break the 729/842 clock personal record I mustered.

If I set the clocks at 720/842, I get away with these voltages in overclocker:
I set core voltage to : 1.475, which gives a true voltage of: 1.450 on the core in ATI Tool.
Then the memory I up to 2.15 for both settings in overclocker.
(I'll recheck this and let you know the true voltages ATI Tool gives)

Is anyone can give his overclock settings by detail please?
here are mines:

As you can see, the temperature is reaching more than 90° and my cooling is a zalman VF900cu.
Is anything wrong with the settings?

Hello Extaze,

I will have to verify my temps to see what I get at your voltages and clocks.

The zalman VF900cu is not the best cooler.

The best ones are:
Accelero x2
And Sytrin VF1 Plus (that's what I have)

You're core voltage is high for that GPU clock. I get 702 on the core with just 1.450 volts.

But again if you overclock you have to accept the fact that the card will run hotter and reduce it's life.

I'll keep you posted!

Later.

Hello guys:) I have ram voltage stock at 1.84 I think, and GPU voltage at 1.45V. Frequencies are 702/819, just like yours extaze.

Thanx Papadoc, in fact I didn't wanted to prove anything, I noticed that zalman vf900cu was better than others, nothing else.
I hope you didn't understand other thing and your opinion matters ;)

I think I mentioned somewhere, that all is stock;) I will just have to "add" some more fresh air from input of the cooler..But I have to do some plastic thing like u tunnel, that only graphics get this "fresh air":) And btw, ram is running well now artifacts free at 855@1.94V, so thats about 0.1V more than stock.

Thx ,but i have had voltages up to 2.2 on my ram(checked with Atitool)
Overclocked with Rivatuner and WInClk,not overclocker..
These chips just won't budge.
I will try to up the voltages a bit more with stock fan on 100%(not tonight,it 'll wake up my neighbours:wtf: )
Will report back !

RivaTuner can get higher clocks because of higher timings..AtiTool has the most low possible timings, thats why u get lower clocks for ram. And anything more than about 85% fan power is meanless..Just more noise.

Ok Gas,
when you install ati calatyst drivers, do you include the catalyst control center? if yes, do you use ati overdrive?
thanx ;)
