Hi,

my friend and I just updrageded his PC with an XpertVision / Palit X1950 Gt Super (AGP):

Features:
GPU RV570 @500MHz
512MB DDR3 256bit @600MHz
ROPs: 12

This is what Aquamark3 spits out in combination with 1GB DDR, Socket 939, AMD Athlon64 3700+ SanDiego @2200MHz (default):

Titan Quest runs fluidly @1280x1024 & High Details.
Nice card!

Price: EUR 154.00 (Germany)

I'd get the 1950Pro Super, both Xpertvision and Palit sell the exact same card (same cooler, hell even same brand naming) The Xpertvision 1950Pro is available for £100.

Yeah, now it is. They should come up with a way to give initial feedback and then later feedback. Many, many sellers are not giving feedback until they receive good feedback. So as soon as the buyer pops the card in and it boots alright, they give good feedback. Then the crashing and problems start. That's when the later feedback should kick in.

X1950 Pro AGPs start at ~EUR 180.00 here in Germany.

Well, yes, the cooler is awesome.
Very quiet and effective!
You can feel a big amount of cool air blowing over the surface of the RAM chips.
That´s what really impresses me, cause I´m one of the guys who are seriously concerned about RAM temps regarding graphic cards.
And many manufactors OC the RAM by default (XpertVision is known for that).

I hate cooler/HS plates where the difference of height for GPU and RAM is `bridged` by thick cool pads. Guarantees you hot RAM...

So I think the card may have a good OC potential.
Anyway, it´s a RV570 clocked with 500 MHz, so... :toast:

Can you make a BIOS dump of your card and upload it? got a theory I'd like to check out. By default Xpertvision dont have any OC on their super models, I know cos I have the Pro version

Alternatively, I would choose the X1950 XT at around EUR 205,-
Or the three slot cooler version, X1950 XT X

The X1950 Pro is at an uncomfortable inbetween price. I'd definitely go for 30% performance improvement with the XT for just 10% more spend.

No such thing as a X1950GS.... Gecube's X1950XT X is atrocious....the TEC cooler is inferior to the VF900CU...

Guys, can someone tell me whether the Palit X1950 GT Super AGP has a variable fan speed? I mailed Palit weeks back with this question, but they never replied.

Also does ATItool now work with it?

I so agree..lol everything is highly overpriced.. you can almost laways find a better deal somewhere else.. and it's insecure as hell.. do not respond to automated messages that sound like someone is trying to buy something from you because u dont know what their talking about.. it tends to be a hack directed to you hoping that you willopen it and it will give your ebay information to the person who sent it to you.. next thing you know your in the middle of crapsville with a huge debt and alot of people pissed at u.. i actually had to threaten ebay to sue them if they didnt fix their hack spam email issue somehow.. funny i havent had one of those emails since.

Use ATi TRAY Tools. It lets you adjust fan speeds in the Overclock area (Which is under Hardware). It's a tab once you are in the overclock section and then you can set them to whatever you want. Hit apply, set it to a profile and you're set.

Thanks for the good news! Is there also hardware fan variability, or only through (Windows) software? Or a way to set the fan speed with a tweaked BIOS? I ask because I plan to migrate to Linux during the course of this video card. Anyone have any experiences with the linux driver for this chip?

Also, do you expect the price of these cards to drop a lot more when the R600 comes out? It's already down to 146 euro's in Germany.

As said in the 1950 Pro thread, w/o your BIOS we have no clue. I assume that your BIOS has to support fan speeds for ATi Tray Tools to adjust them.
