I'm reading that many of the Pro VIVOs are laser cut now. Anyone know about the Asus X850 Pro VIVO PCI-E?

not the asus !! , only the ones made by ati , and some new ones by saphire , i dont know about connect 3d or gecube ones !

asus x850 pro vivo = no laser cut , and can be unlocked to 16p through bios flash !

bnselling u should get the asus x850 pro vivo , it will surpass real well in overclocking , very solid card better than the gto2 , if u are returning get that since its also pci express .

How do you recommend flashing the BIOS on this one? Flash a X850 XT with -newbios command and leave it or flash back original without -newbios command? I've done all my reading on the X800GTO2, not this card. What will leaving the XT bios on the card do to the VIVO functionality?

from what i know, no PCIe X850 Pro VIVO has been sucessfully unlocked... i could be wrong though.

flash it with the ASUS X850 XT PE (PCI EXPRSS) bios from the bios collection here ,

Just fitted a Zalman VF700-cu to my Connect3D X800GTO - this card runs feckin hot! At stock speeds with the stock cooler it was sitting at 38deg, with the Zalman it's sitting at 34deg. Does that 4deg temp drop sound about right?

dude did u even read the MOD posted by WIZZARD in above link ................... u should read it before listening to that guy .................... u should ask the guy which brand of the radeon x850 pro vivo pci-xprs didnt unlock !

PEOPLE who unlock cards should definatley use arctic silencer 4 or 5 for their ati x800 cards , if they r thinking of unlocking and overclocking , there is no other substitute in my experience and opinion !

I did read the article, but it was written quite some time ago. It's only the newer cards that are being locked and hopefully not all of them. Also, I read that many prefer the Zalman cooler over the Arctic Silencer. I have no experience with either one. If I have any luck with the Asus X850 Pro VIVO, I will then buy one.

i just like the ati silencer since no matter how max i took my core , where i wouldnt have artifacts , the temps never went beyond 57 c ................. and idles at 35 c ............. its humungous but it works

$40.88 from xpc. $41.98 from NewEgg. I've been reading and will probably go with the Arctic Cooler. The stock cooler on the X850 Pro should do a decent job but will be much noisier.

The modified flashrom has been updated on Jan 03 2005 to support both AGP and PCI-Express X800 Pro VIVO cards. The mod is the same, just get a X800 XT PE PCI-E BIOS when flashing a PCI-E card.

If you flash a PCI-E Pro VIVO and the card is detected as "X800 SE" after flashing, you flashed the wrong BIOS.

It will only work on the X800 Pro VIVO and X850 Pro VIVO. Manufacturer does not matter. It will not work on any non-VIVO cards.

the few guys who didnt unlock theirs , had ati manufactured x850 pros , which were laser cut meaning hard locked , as it tells in the beginning of the article and also some of them didnt even know what a vivo is !! .................. by the way my friend unlocked the asus and he also got it from newegg.com and same goes for me

yours is AGP though. what is your friend's?

also, the part in red fails to specify the interface (AGP vs PCIe) and the next paragraph (about the modified flashrom) only says X800 Pro...no the X850.

i'm interested to see what blsnelling will get.
