did you change voltage on the "Clock-/voltage settings" page or in the "GPU Registers"? how do your "Clock info 00-09" read?

So thats probably the answer to your woes then, it appears to be non ref so quite likely does not have the programmable Volterra controller which means you cannot change voltage.

figured since the BIOS of ref cards don't work that I've tried. I imagine there's some way to change it and i'll be trying to find it.

Your best bet to start with would, if I might suggest, take the card out and check which controller you have, it may well still be volterra but at least you will know then if your wasting your time or not.

Boy do I feel stupid. I recently purchased the : xfx 6870 hd-687a-zdfc
Been quite a search to even find this thread, and now I came here to only find a dead end.
Sort off,
Still no confirmation on the presence of the volterra controller...

Can anyone give me a hint of where to look for it. Still quite new to all of this.

Thx.

Edit - http://www.overclock.net/t/1160581/help-overclocking-xfx-hd6870-dual-fan/20 same card which could unlock the voltage in the past. What the heck is going on.

got confirmation from XFX that no voltage unlock is possible. but, don't always believe em.
OC'd to 950MHz/1250MHz with stock voltage. good enough for me, i guess...

Hello guys I have (I tink reference) Sapphire 6870
http://www.sapphiretech.com/presentation/product/?cid=1&gid=3&sgid=1037&pid=496&psn=&lid=1&leg=0

I have problem with this card bios: In 2d desktop clock 100/300 i have artifacts but in 3d no problems when I change 2d voltage with CCC overdrive from 0.95 to 1.075 everything works ok. I don't want to use software with this problem so is it posible to do bios mod.

I tried to flash a bios with RBE voltage moded, but after driver load i get BSOD so I back orginal bios.
I think that is AMD driver nagging protection which get BSOD if you change any bios parameter.

Is there any way to make this change to voltage not using any software.
Here is bios attached and I uploaded screen shot from RBE imageshack

Here is BIOS

You will know if you can unlock voltage control simply by using MSI Afterburner, then in the config file edit to unlock overclocking AND voltage..... if you then get the option to raise voltage through the app you know you have the right controller.

I installed MSI and I can change voltage with MSI.
