Alright, so I have been trying to play browser games on InstantAction.com, and found that I couldn't because the game would get stuck on the step: "System Check". At first, I thought this was a problem with InstantAction.

But then, I was on a different site: "Can You RUN It?" (http://www.systemrequirementslab.com/referrer/srtest), and once again, it couldn't load my system settings. For every value on Can You RUN It?, I would get "undefined". So for example, I would get:
CPU: undefined.
Graphics Card: undefined.

So I have no idea what would cause something like this to happen. I have disabled Windows Firewall (the only firewall on my computer), and I don't have any anti-virus software installed.. so I don't know what's going on.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks a bunch.

Well, I don't think it's a web browser problem.. I have used three different browsers, Chrome (default), Firefox, and IE (I have version 7).

I'll try updating to v8 and see what happens I guess.

It's gotta be something else.. but I have no idea what.. again I deactivated Windows Firewall.. I have no idea what else could be causing this.. anyone know?

Okay, I downloaded and installed the only freeware version of Everest I could find. Then I created a report. Unfortunately, I have no idea what the report means, and if there is something that is causing problems in that report.. So I will upload that report, and hopefully someone who knows what to look for could browse through it and find a problem?

Thanks again so much for your time.

Here's the report:

Found another site I can't use...

A soccer gaming site (powerchallenge.com) will not load properly now either. The Java version of the game will work, but the ActiveX version in IE8 will not work. I found a log for this problem, so I will post it, and hopefully someone will know how to fix this weird problem.

http://files.getdropbox.com/u/1049438/powerloader.log

A problem in the log is detected at this point in the log:

Requesting file 'toyota.zip'
Previous file good, size 119660
Timestamp file good, lastmod Wed, 27 Aug 2008 18:59:03 GMT

HTTP GET request: http://download09.powerchallenge.com/applet/toyota.zip
headers: If-Modified-Since: Wed, 27 Aug 2008 18:59:03 GMT
ERROR: Failed opening URL for package 'toyota.zip'
Setting state to 5
WARNING: Incomplete or corrupt download detected. Retrying (1 of 5 retries)

So, I guess it's having troubles downloading files to my computer? I don't really know what is causing these problems.

I just set all the settings so that ActiveX controls will run.. unfortunately that didn't do it. I don't understand why everything is getting blocked!

Thanks for the suggestions though. Is there anything else I should check for? If not.. I don't know what to do. Maybe I have a virus or something on my computer?

Yeah, also though that report was made with an older version of Everest. I found a newer version.. but the report turned out to be 27MB.. which is quite large for a simple text file. I couldn't even save the file it was so big..

I'll try making another Everest log with the newer version without some of the things that are making it so big. (Like event logs and stuff.. I think that's what took up most of the space).

Did you restart the browser after changing the settings? Sometimes that is required.

Also, do you have security software (A/V, firewall, etc.) that may be preventing any personal/computer information from being sent over the web? (That, however, should not cause your download to fail, but that may be a different problem).

Yeah, I did restart my browser, didn't help though.

I don't have any Anti-Virus software on my computer, and I disabled Windows Firewall (the only firewall I have on my computer).

I'm really stumped.. this is really weird. I'm really starting to think I have some sort of really weird virus or something. I can't figure out what else it could be.

Any other suggestions? Thanks so much for the help so far guys.

Well you could get a free copy of AVG and check for malware.
I highly recommend some kind of protection.
