NVIDIA GeForce GTX 480 Fermi

So jackoffs spend 500 bucks to put one in their moms shitty dell, wake up.

Hate to sound immature but prove it, how is a bunch of jackoffs dropping these reactors into their moms dell (WHICH is the MAJORITY of the consumer market) is going to help?

Have you ever gotten an error on a GPU that many other people were getting? Lets say gray bars across the screen? Yeah well a lot of people on TPU did and you know what? ATI had no clue until the community told them about it. Why? BECAUSE THEY WERE TESTED IN THE WILD! Why the hell do you think they beta test so damn much? You have to understand something. Drivers are not mature for a card almost until the next generation and are only fully stable about three months in.

I'm sure you are a driver developer by profession? (thought not) but 5 nerds in a room with alot of mountain dew and 1 task for 5 months, they go insane or do the best they can, and the millions you talk about about 1% will actually give feedback (there arent 1m 5xxx in existence btw)

I dont know anything about writing drivers but I hardly know of any card released in the past few years that didn't have significant improvements in performance from driver updates in the first months of release. You are probably right about how the drivers are made but in practice we see different.

Never had a problem with any driver ever (should probably mention i havent downloaded them all) believe me if you want or not, been in this game since 2002 played every mainstream title on all sorts of hardware

Then you and a unicorn should have a baby.

This thread is fun, except for w1zzard... unless he's used to people taking a dump and smearing it all over his work.

Oh I'm not. I'm just stating that its beyond RARE that you have NEVER had a problem. But thats besides the point. As long as you understand the drivers are far from mature.

quote me on this, Ill stick to my guns about how i feel about the drivers, in 3 months, lets compare reviews and see what the drivers do, only then will i humbly accept defeat.

Shhhh, I can hear a mods footsteps coming.

Its simple man. Look at old reviews. You'll see I'm right.

I have been camping on this thread for a while now. The flaming is not cool guys.

Why on earth would you compare an old generations history to new architecture? dont anwser that, i wont be here to read it, heading out to the airport.

have you guys seen EVGA SuperClocked on newegg ?

GTX 470 core 607/625 for $30 more from $350

GTX 480 Core 700/725 for $30 more from $500

wow some super cards XD

Its quite a let down to me...Not worth the 500+EUR it will cost here considering $ is just turned to EUR here....
Considering nvidia used to pawn ati in every new launch this is mediocre...
Much better off with a 5850...around 270EUR.2x 5850s wo;; be around the same price and beat 480.
Just IMO anyways.

wew, crazy ass card, what the hell nvidia doing ?

i never seen 320 watt power consumption for single GPU, so the rumour are right after all,

EDIT : thanx wizz i really appreciate your benchmark, and i know the difficulties for you to bench all this card, and i know you didn't have much time to bench it with latest driver, and i hope you will benchmark it again wit ati newer driver

Why does Fermi feel like Intels Netburst. They had something awesome planned but didn't have the time to refine it and because of that they rushed it out and it was nowhere near what they intended it to be. They made a chip way too big, inefficient, and way too hot.

Sound like Netburst?

i think i'm done .. every time there is a review you people have something to complain about .. suddenly lost all motivation to do any further vga reviews ... anyone interesting in buying a tech site ?

Not always, remember fx series. And things changes, not every time nvidia launches a new gpu ati has to lag behind.

I expected a worse card, a single gpu card that can match more or less a 295 and it hasn't the natural problems of a dual gpu like in dirt2 is quite fine. But I guess the real thing will come later with revisions, gtx 485s, 495s and so... 320w is just crazy.
