TechPowerUp will soon get a new wardrobe, and we're doing trials. The new user interface modernizes design, improves functionality, and makes the site safe for high-resolution displays such as today's Apple's Retina iPad and MacBooks, and future Ultra HD ones.

We're opening our new design for testing by our forum members. It's still a little rough around the edges. Please report any errors you may encounter. Also use this thread for constructive feedback. We're all eyes to any ideas you may have.

TechPowerUp New UI Beta

Please check out if any of the UI elements appear "low-res" or pixellate, and report here.

On it. Just looks like a font change o.O
Guessing everything is vectorised though.
EDIT: Dates on popular forum topics on the right hand side of the main page are TINY

Looks good on Win7, Google Chrome.

hey, looks good on win7 IE, it seems alot clearer thumbs up from me :)

I'm only on a Dell Ultra Sharp 1200p , but the current Homepage design is very "compact" for ME. The newer one seems nice and even. Looked good for ME.
Windows 7 54bit<<<<<Yeah I have A Special Version of Windows that no-1 else has :) (x64)
Firefox - 20.0.1
DPI @ 155 <<<I'm Blind

Playing around and jumping back and forth between the new and old it seems pretty good. I like the increased emphasis on the poll and giveaway features. Will take a few minutes for people to adjust, and of course as with all modern UIs it feels a little "cold" but w/e.

I noticed in the comment section it gives me the option to edit other people's posts when I hover over them. It doesn't work obviously.

Check out the sections...downloads, databases, reviews, etc.

It feels better. I like the added margins on the sides of the page and the solid indigo title bars for the dates. Not a huge update, but definitely good subtle changes.

Good work to whoever made these changes. Subtle and effective. :toast:

Great, Less space used on my screen but better for none PC devices better YAY LOL.

Sorry it's except able but it's not better for my usage

to be honest i'm not sure what to change in a "huge" upgrade. i contracted a few design companies for ideas and they all came back with crap that was harder to use than before.

your ideas are always welcome if you think something can be improved. now is the time to speak up

fixed! thank you

what resolution are you on?

Will this spill over into matching forum makeover?

Really overall I like this new design a lot. Going through the reviews though it made me feel like the graphs could benefit from a matching visual update. For future reviews I mean. It would probably be a bit nutty going back and redoing all the old ones.

any suggestions how they could be changed?

(nothing interactive/flash, because people need to be able to link to them in forums for example)

1920x1080, and looks even worse when you get passed the section on the right.. It''s looks ok just that it don't take advantage of the screen so like 6" of the screen is not used.

oooooh .. you are complaining that it's not full width? dont you find paragraphs easier to read now ?

Being dyslexic changing lines often can be very annoying, It's not big deal really as whats there is on the forum anyways

Sort of agree...

What happened to the screen width options? Is there a reason they are gone?

I'd try matching them up to the spec and overclock comparison charts for cohesiveness. They have a nice deep blue title bar and a squared look to them that could probably be carried over. Here's a mockup of the top bar. I was too lazy to try and square the fps bars. Doesn't take much to "modernize."

good input, i wasn't aware of that. but even the new design is wider than 90% of sites on the internet?

old old remnant. does anyone actually use them to reduce width below the fluid default?

between the news on the front page, id think it should use a divider between headlines to break things up, like the old with dotted line between article headers. havent i seen that blue colour/font scheme before :p

thats my thoughts, but other than that it looks clean and fresh.

id like the new change

Looks like TPU is finally getting some catch up to NPU.

I like the changes, but I wish I didn't have to go over to NPU to get 'better' news...TPU's new section feels neglected once I pull up NPU.

Best,

Liquid Cool

divider is there, just lower contrast, or not showing on your browser?

edit: looks like different browsers render the dotted line in a different way, so its apparent brightness will differ (http://www.impressivewebs.com/comparison-css-border-style/)
firefox and chrome render almost the same, ie renders too light. i made it a little bit darker, will think about a different solution

The faint line is more elegant. You could make it a smidge thicker but big brash boundary lies are so 90's.

It looks fine to me, certainly appears cleaner, even though the old style isn't 'unclean'.

I'm on Firefox.

yea i wondered if my contrast was too high, glad you said that. because when i look closely its really faint. even on some other pages as dividers its faint

im using internet explorer. the old one was about right, but the new line is really faint and seems like nothings there when there is

im glad you tidied up the 'about tpu page',
the articles page is a list, which people rarely take the time to read through, maybe should be broken up and allow members the chance to add to articles once its been cross examined by members and admins. could have a link for such.
old stuff page is emptyish could be left in downloads section
i dont know if its a bug, but the gpu database has a left hand red line down but cpui database doesnt eidt: its for the red and green team awww, but isnt continuity key :)

never seen tpu catcher before, nice addition
case mod gallery makes the cases look better :p#

apologise to scrutinise so much i cant help picking flaws in things lol but my own thoughts so i may be dammned for that

Some of the font looks pixely. Windows 8, google chrome, 1366/768.

tpu.png

The little articles take up more space compared to the old but it is only like 20 pixels max. Its not really any better or any worse.

This is closer to what I meant. Still doesn't look quite right to me though.
