OFFICIAL Battlefield 4 (Discussion)

It's Metro, every corner is covered in Ammo Boxes and Health Boxes. Thats all Metro really is, corner stacking with grenades, he just goes one farther. His 270/0 game his team has 2128 kills and the other team only has 755 deaths. Metro reminds me of something I said way back in the BC2 thread, this is Battlefield, not Battlecorridor. Sadly, with BF3 numerous maps are Battlecorridor, and Metro is probably the biggest perpetrator of it.

Not saying those types of maps are bad, I think having a few for some variety isn't bad, but I think BF3 has a few too many, and hope BF4 doesn't (mentioning this since this is a BF4 thread). Overall I think most of the "corridor" maps on BF3 are pretty well balanced (at least for CQ), but Metro isn't, never has been, it's the reason KAIN1 plays only RU and has a 74% win percentage. The maps too many choke points and unbalanced, and I hope they don't bring it back in a DLC for BF4, it's sad that it's the highest scoring map, it means there's tons of servers for it which makes DICE feel it's a good map.

I wish BF3 Metro and such had the ability to blow away any and almost every wall there. Kinda like in BC1 & 2. That would have been much better.

Yeah ! Battlefield is going to announce BF4 PREMIUM SUPER HYPER BOX EDITION

DICE confirms upcoming announcement

DICE has confirmed by way of its Twitter feed that a big announcement regarding Battlefield 4 is upcoming soon. Sources tell us that “soon” means today during the Xbox event.
What the big announcement could be is anyone’s guess at this point, although our sources seem to think that it could be something from a simple look at the new multiplayer in Battlefield 4 to a big announcement of exclusive content for the new Xbox.

We will have only a few more hours to wait to see what the “big” announcement is, but let’s hope that it is something more than just a little something.

PCMag.com - Watch Live: Microsoft's Xbox Reveal Event

By Chloe Albanesius May 21, 2013 12:00pm EST

Microsoft today is set to unveil its next-gen Xbox, rumored to be called the Xbox 720. The software giant will host an event at its Redmond headquarters, which kicks off at 1 p.m. Eastern.
The company will live-stream the event via Xbox.com, and has provided the embed code to PCMag, which will go live at 1 p.m., so refresh this page then for the video. We will also provide commentary via our @PCMagLive Twitter feed (embedded below), so follow along there if you don't have access to the live feed.
Microsoft tipped today's Xbox event in late April, which it said will "mark the beginning of a new generation of games, TV and entertainment." It will also host an event at the E3 gaming conference on June 10, where it promised to "showcase our full lineup of blockbuster games." Since then, the rumors have been fast and furious about the console: from suggestions that Xbox 720 chips are already in production as well as tight integration with Kinect to the possible lack of Blu-ray.
Be here at 1 p.m. for all the details. Until then, check out PCMag's Xbox wish list.

...and it's a bust. No sign of Battlefield 4. Call of Duty Ghosts with it's new engine is nipping at it's heels, though.

ea.com - THE WAIT IS OVER – NEW HARDWARE, NEW DEVELOPMENT ENGINES AND STUNNING NEW GAMES

POSTED BY Frank Gibeau ON MAY 21, 2013

This is a big day – the first time in over a year that an EA developer can answer a question without starting: Sorry, I’m under NDA and can’t provide any detail.

Today Microsoft has unveiled Xbox One and we can finally say: the next generation of hardware is incredible and the proof is in the details – the games and development engines that will breathe life into these systems.

OK, I am biased. I spend a lot of time on mobile, tablet and PC games, but I love the power and scope of big console games and it’s been eight years since we’ve had a new canvas to create on. Today, Microsoft’s press conference revealed what we’re so excited about. Finally, we can draw back the curtain and show you what we’ve been working on for Madden, FIFA, NBA LIVE, UFC, Battlefield, Need For Speed and other EA franchises.

In that broadcast, Andrew Wilson unveiled EA SPORTS IGNITE, a brand new game engine that powers our next-generation sports games. Ignite delivers a stunning array rendering capabilities, run-time physics, animation, intelligence, locomotion and integrated online systems. It will create sports experiences that are more authentic and deliver more emotion than ever before.

But the excitement isn’t limited to EA SPORTS. EA’s DICE Studio has introduced Frostbite 3, a game engine that will revolutionize experiences across a broad spectrum of platforms and genres. The astonishing power of Frostbite 3 was unveiled in March with this 17-minute gameplay video of Battlefield 4. That demo was actually showcasing the next generation of Battlefield, which will run on Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and PC and will also be available on Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3.

Now that the Xbox One has been unveiled, there is so much more we want to show you – racing, RPGs and shooters that are going to astonish you with their graphic fidelity and connected features.

Our E3 briefing “The Download: EA 2013 Preview” will be a showcase of next-generation games like Battlefield 4, Need For Speed, a full range of EA SPORTS games and a first look at our plans for the Star Wars partnership with Disney. Tune in on Monday, June 10 at 1pm PT on Spike TV or at www.ea.com/e3 to experience it all. I’m eager to your reaction in the comments and the forums, Facebook and Twitter.

Today, you’ll hear a lot of superlatives about the new systems – all well-deserved. But what we showed today only skims the surface of a deep ocean of images and experiences. Now it’s up to us -- DICE, BioWare, Criterion, Visceral, EA SPORTS and others – to show you what the new consoles can do.

So do you get the Drone Strike DLC along with China Rising if you preorder? I'm confused.

I think Drone Strike is out, and China Rising is the Official Pre-Order Bonus DLC.

So their splintering the preorders? Great idea. Nothing like some people having access to part of one DLC while the others need to buy it or wait for their's to come out.

Huh? I think he means China Rising is the Pre-order DLC, Drone Strike is not (anything before recent announcements on that was just here-say).

I thought they said Drone Strike officially, but you may be correct that it was just a rumor.

I did find this

As far as I read about the picture is that no one officially said that Drone Strike was going to be the DLC, but at GSC these displays were up. But maybe thats why they didn't go farther introducing it. Odds are they didn't just change DLC's, they most likely just changed the name of it.

So is it worth it to pre-order or not?

What are your priorities?

Are you a hard-core Battlefield fan? Are you going to want to be there on day 1, playing with your friends, sharing the joys of discovery? If so, wait for a good deal to pop up, and pre-order.

Or has Battlefield been hit or miss for you, and value for your money is more important? If so, wait until the Premium version is made available, and wait for a sale on it.

It's your call.

I'm in group A, but I haven't pre-ordered yet, because it's not clear to me what is included with the Digital Deluxe version. There's plenty of time to wait and see and still get a pre-order in.
I pre-ordered BF3 from Amazon last time, then when a better deal came up at Green Man Gaming, I pre-ordered it from there and cancelled Amazon.

Preorder makes no sense. It's same case as BF3, you get an expansion (mappack actually, 4maps ) which nobody plays at first because all servers are on stock stuff. After two months they will start selling premium and include the expansion anyway.
Learning from premium of BF3 you received 5 expansions from which 2 are widely playable all others are an hour of play and then you are playing the basic version anyway.
Keep in mind BF4 will be more like a REAL expansion for BF3...

I just noticed a drawback of stats vs BF2, I can't check what map I played the most or am I blind and it is somewhere ?

I will pre-order:)
I want to be in on the beta:toast:

If you want to play the game as soon as it's released, what is the difference between pre-ordering the game a day or two before release and buying it on release day?

1. Pre-ordering will allow you to pre-load the game rather than trying to load it on release day (assuming digital delivery).
2. Pre-ordering may allow you to lock in a good price.
3. And what if the "bonus" DLC comes out before they have established the Premium package? If you pre-ordered, you get to play it without additional charge. Otherwise, you have to pay $15, or wait for Premium to become available.

If money is the only criteria, there is no doubt that you can wait a year or two and get it all for $15. But who wants to do that?

im not intrested anny thing that Origin only

EA/DICE needs to add in a report feature on servers so that players can report RANKED servers for violating T&C. Such as pistol/knife servers. As it is, you have to find the admin's profile and report the admin there. The problem is finding the Admin if the server uses auto-scripts.

I'm not sure about that, any pistol/knife server I've ever been on auto-kills you if you use any other weapon or a grenade. I'd try a different server.

They are against the EA TOS if they are ranked servers
