OFFICIAL Star Citizen

A base reliant has the same capabilities as the aurora but comes with an extra seat, has more storage and looks bad ass. It's described as a tier 2 starter ship so is a step up over the aurora. Unfortunately it's not offered as a package at the moment so the ship doesn't come with the game. There's no way to upgrade an aurora to a reliant at the moment (it will be possible later in development to upgrade, but only when the reliant is flyable).
you can still melt a Aurora for a Reliant ... : exchange for store credit then use the credit for the Reliant (and add a bit more if the "refund" is <50$ ):D but as the LX is not available anymore on store or upgrade (the LX can be upgraded to LN tho ) if i had a LX i would keep it and get the Reliant separately :D

actually converted to credit my Gladius package and the Mustang Beta to test the Hornet with the canard turret
so for now i have : 325a, F7C Hornet, Aurora LN (and Reliant but not until released ;) )

@Iceni https://forums.robertsspaceindustri...le-for-star-citizen-arena-commander-v1-1-0/p1

for the rest ... Freelancer Freelancer 2 Starlancer i-war, WCP i played all of them and some i still have the original box ... even have the 1984 Elite just for the joke ... but NOW its SC... (might try Elite: Dangerous tho ... and i saw good feedback on the X55 for it)

funny how GOG still think all Swiss people are German speaking only ... just as Apple ... pfff
ohhh indeed Freespace now i remember ... thanks for remembering me that one :D

Damn, that didn't help at all...
Get both.
Wish I had that kind of money, I'm already over-committed, lol.
Was hoping someone would sway me to either keep the LX or melt it for a Reliant.

@Iceni ... i .. could not resist ... one of my etailer did a small promo on a Saitek X55 Rhino Hotas system ... since i found a lot on it for SC and it was cheaper than the price of the X52(well ... Chris Roberts hotas on his main rig is a X52 iirc) i thought ... why not :D (Tuesday hopefully )
View attachment 65073
now i just have to print some reference pics or get a 10" tab to put the layout of the profile on it
also this will be my 1st hotas system tho.

May I just say, you SUCK. I had to settle for a Thrustmaster, because I can't come anywhere near affording the Rhino, no matter how much I drool... *sigh* grats mate, and enjoy it!!

ahahaha thanks for that one ... i bursted in laughter while reading ... (with a little tear in the end due to the sadness of your statement  i had to re read tho ... :p )

now ... if my retailer would have done a promo on the Warthog or a X65f ... that would be a different story .. well they are cheaper on the Warthog ... 357chf instead of 479chf but it's still double the price over the Rhino :ohwell:

hummm ... strange .. the Warthog is Thrustmaster why did i see it as a Saitek ...

The reliant can carry a bit more than the LX for cargo, so go with that. Hell, it would probably only take an hour or two to pick up either ship in game anyways. Though, if the LX is a game package, keep it.

**For controllers, I'm using a Logitech Xtreme Pro whatever and an x52 throttle. I'm thinking of picking up the CH products throttle for the analogue thumb-stick. I can't stand the x52 stick... for this game anyways.

There's my answer. No use in giving up LTI on the LX package for a Reliant LTI when insurance will be so cheap and I can just pick one up in-game.

You are going to love that stick. I'd advise downloading Freespace2, Star-lancer, Independence wars 2 Edge of chaos, And Warthunder. With those titles you should be set to have a good old play.

http://www.gog.com/game/independence_war_2
http://www.gog.com/game/freespace_2

It's going to take you some time to set it up and learn to use it. And Warthunder is the platform for that as it will let you bind out all the keys. The older games will be limited on how many keys you can bind in game, But the SST software will let you bind Keyboard keys to hotas buttons, Letting you bind everything.

As for your key layout it's why you want to play the older sims. SC will have an element of the controls they use and with that you will find that the older titles will show you where to place the keys.

A great example is targeting. You need lots of targeting commands more than you would think.

From the top of my head these are typically needed.

Target reticule (in front of you)
Nearest enemy
Nearest Friendly
Cycle targets forward
Cycle targets backwards
Subsystem
Bombs/Torps
Bombers
Engines
Wing-man/Squad
Escort cycle forward
Escort cycle backwards
Escorts attacker forwards
Escorts attackers backwards

Some of those commands are your mission bread and butter, Bombs/bombers, Nearest enemy, Recticle, Subsystem, And a cycle command. Others are situational like escort and wingman commands but there always needed at some point as having to target your wingman to issue an order then get back to your main target needs to be done quickly and without breaking your flight. Freespace 2 will teach you this very quickly. It's easily the best game to play through to get an idea of how HOTAS and space sims work together.

As much as i would love to agree with you on the Saitek X55 or any Saitek product in fact they have always failed me for the same reason every time. The spring that pushes against the plastic that moves always gets messed up for me.

I heard story people loving the X55 and others but i would never buy one and would cough up the extra for a CH product which has metal parts and works like the real deal.

Since you have LTI on the LX you can change your mind later in development and upgrade it to a reclaimer or any other ship available at the time with the new CCU system they'll be adding. The alpha and beta access you have through that LTI pack is worth keeping it anyway.

Didn't know that first part, but as far as alpha/beta access goes, I'm good. I have a total of six game packages right now, all have beta access and all but one have alpha.

Thanks guys. I'll be waiting for the universe or a test flight weekend to determine if I pick up a Reliant.

i don't get the CH product for all i have searched on it: it's downright ugly (albeit practical ) i don't get also the extra needed for them.
as for Saitek infamous failure rate i heard of it but i also heard a lot of good on them (Madcatz buying them didn't helped ... for the failure rate ... the F.L.Y. for example are stated to be the worse in stick history)
i just noticed, i still have my Saitek Pro Gamer Command Unit xD

let's say like all Madcatz product, with Saitek it has become a lottery... i hope i pull a winner number

CH ... well they have some great things ... like the multipanel but ...
sorry i can't understand the pricetag for things that look like that ...

professional well ... maybe but look like early 80/90 design (personal opinion on aesthetic are ... hard to ditch ...)

I can't actually comment on the X55 as I have the X65, It's a different animal.

I'm happy for GB, It's simple if it's wrong he's no fool to RMA's and getting stuff returned. I hope he gets a good one out of the box TBF. I've had hotas sticks for a long time, The X52 I had originally lasted 5 years, then I got a second and it lasted about the same. They both failed on the z axis, I would expect the X55 will fail in the same way.

It's not like anyone posting in this thread is new to gaming :D

Lets not worry him before he get it tho :D I can't imagine he hasn't at least done a few searches and read other forums regarding how people are getting on with those sticks, And at the same time looked at sales and worked out what sort of % of people are actually having trouble. (it's not as high as you would think).

And GB beat me on the draw!!!

Just saw a leaked picture of the WIP Freelancer "re-do"... it got bigger! Which, it needed a little. Looks pretty much the same though.. Perhaps a little sleeker. With the changes, I hope they decide to make the original concept for the ship as something else.

Old concept:

I won't post the leaked pic, but you can easily find it on Reddit.

WOW never thought i would hear such crap from you. Not buy it because you don't like the looks of it pssh. Good way to end up with crappy crap shit gear because it looks good and that's why i have it lol. Average life span of just the joysticks is around 10 years.

Just wait for the sales is all ya need to do with DH and you will get awesome value for your money.

Others are just full of plastic crap even the expensive TM Hotas.

lol, I can't believe how ornery you're acting over another persons personal choices.

wonderful ...

so this is not plastic???
5521397866_2dc097fd5f.jpg

or that one?
technology_076a_004.jpg

btw the Warthog is mostly made of metal

as i said with Saitek it's a lottery and i am most of the time lucky  (almost)
not talking crap just stating personal opinion my dear, live with it
and my point is : CH is good for those who like the look and the shape, i got a testdrive on FSX with a CH setup, well ... the shape is not comfortable at my taste and i prefer something that doesn't force me to buy ruder pedal and cost less, the look is an accessory indeed but for me if i can get both, i am fine (and i will be fine ;) )

now let's all be good Citizen and head up for the STARS!

I was on about the Fighterstick and HOTAS not some yoke thing ( but ok not ever thing ;) ), sure all their stuff is not metal but what counts and needs to be in the Fighterstick and HOTAS is metal. As for the TM you posted that's just the handle which be lovely and chilled for winter but inside the main part of the unit it's plastic crap.

BTW you had any dealings with TM ?, i will tell ya this they are a pain in the butt.

nope because i rarely have to RMA my gears always fails outside of the warranty period  (except for Razer ... but i am out of business with them  )
and knowing me if something fails i will end up trying to mod and repair it myself :ohwell:

ok CH are reliable but they are not for me (not only look but also comfort.) the X55 will be my first HOTAS but i tried several at friend's place and in shop (and don't misunderstand me i find the Warthog horrible and overpriced ;) i just said if it was on promo i would give a shot at it.)

well on a sidenote the fighterstick from Ch is not looking so bad and the shape could fit me ... but i need a twist capable stick (i can't handle pedal ...)
normally i will get my delivery in a couple of hours :D so i will see once it will be set up, how it goes.

The CH sticks are only good if it was still 1998 or you are willing to upgrade them, and they don't have enough buttons/hats.

As far as warthog vs X-55, X-55 really is the best bang for buck.
The only metal parts on the Warthog are cosmetic the stick gimbals and pretty much everything else is plastic just like the X-55
So its not really worth the extra money unless you just have to have a warthog replica, also the warthog stick is very restive and can't be adjusted easily like the X-55's spring setup.
My only complaint with the X-55 was the lack of a adjustable hand rest on the stick, which was easily fixed by making foam puck + double sided tape.

well it's here ... driver: Ok software: Ok SC profile: Ok SC XML: Ok, any hiccups? nope a walk in the park ...

freshly arrived no damage on the box ... thanks the Swiss post :D
image001.jpg image002.jpg

temporary setup but still comfortable the mouse is on the extreme right i can even keep it like that
image004.jpg
testdrive: success, need a bit time to get used but all the command are easier to find/reach than keyboard+mouse.
image006.jpg

crappy plastic? hell no ... the plastic used here has a good feel and is sturdy enough (just like the ... oh wait ... CH? well internal plastic part are not metal ... but still get a good feeling )
didn't got a lemon? yup ... happy as a ... a what ... oh ... nevermind

Canard dual Sledge ... well not so bad, a bit slow but not so bad.
ScreenShot0204.jpg

indeed ... my tablet is really useful xD

lucky me i have no one to whom i would need to explain my purchase (or unlucky me ... depending the point of view ...)

buuuuuuh that 147$ is a whooping ~30$ less than mine ... well initial price here in Switzerland was 230$~

anybody know that website?

since no TPU organization were on the list i took the liberty to create one using the org logo from SC organization page, to do my RSI forum sig.

@erocker Are you ever going to take back command of the org?

Awesome! Thanks

I just don't have the time.(Look at my steam game time. lol)

i noticed something funny ... i cross upgraded my 325a for a Cutlass Black.

so my hangar option should be : Self land (AMD Omega package) VFG Industrial Asteroid (Cutlass) Aeroview (Gladius), indeed i have those 3 option but i also have the Revel & York (that i got only once with the Taurus package, and never bought standalone after) i wonder why xD (after a little search it seems that the R&Y is a backer bonus mmhhh... ) well i wonder which one i will have upon release ... for now i am a serial switcher (ship/hangar/weap/mis... et cetera)

also tested the M50 in electronic access ... now i want a M50 ... duh ... (not available for now but ... upon release i hope it will be back O.o )
the best for going near blackout ... i love that  too bad OBS (Open Broadcast Software) recording is kinda bad if not used for streaming :D
