It's this time of year again - time for hardware upgrades, or a new PC even? Getting ready for raytracing?

Nothing - it's impossible in Poland to buy any new GPU. RTX's 3070+ are either completely unavailable, available for preorder at €150+ above MSRP arriving weeks after paying for the order (people still haven't received day 1 orders) or available at retail with price of an ebay scalper. Odering RX 6000 series right now makes no sense right now. RX 6800 models are priced the same as 3080 AIB's (ca. €900+) and 6800 XT's cost as much as AIO models of 3080's (ca. €1100+), with even greater availability issues.

Update:
I just checked pricing of 3080's and they're up by at least €100 since last Friday.
X-kom - none of them are available for order

Morele.net - all of them as preorders with no estimate of availability.

Ordered a 5600X a few weeks ago now not actually looking at stock...should be here early next year...

built my new PC about 3 weeks ago , prices on the cpu have stayed the same ,£200 , bought a used GPU to last me a while until some point nxt year, its not the best but performs great at 1080p which is all i use anyway.
So no rush to buy anything else until things are back to normal...

I am eyeing the 3060ti that I don't need.

No work, no money, no upgrades...

Can't find anything and not padding the palm of scalper's

ltterally nothing available to buy (except old tech for double the price)... maybe things will be better in the spring.

Would like a new GPU, but no way I'm paying the current prices (or paying and waiting for over a month to get it).

Nothing.
New cards are madness level overpriced where I live and the prev gen/older cards are gone like its a mining craze again.. 'even the 1660 supers are gone, same with the 5000 serie AMDs'

Even the second hand market is gone crazy and not worth to bother with currently so I will check back in mid January to see if things are better.

The last box I got from UPS was ripped to shreads with items literally falling out...by some miracle nothing was missing... but I hate ordering things this time of year...so even if GPUs we're available I'd wait for awhile.
Of course now the shippers are busy all the time--I've had so much trouble with missing shipments, broken things etc. I've never had before so I may wait until the pandemic has calmed a bit....and gee maybe the next gen of graphics cards will be out by then :( .

Upgraded from i5 6600k to i7 9700k. Was eyeing the 5600x but I didn't feel like reinstalling OS so just dumped in the z390/9700k in place of z170/6600k and was done. :D
Wouldn't mind getting 3060ti to replace my GTX 1070 but I'm not willing to pay scalper's price. GTX 1070 still does the job so no rush.

I got myself a new keyboard and that's all, I'm in no rush to do a major upgrade

EDIT: If I can find some decent deals, I might try to help my brother upgrade from a Ryzen 5 1500x and RX 480 to something a bit nicer.

I just got a 5800x and an MSI x570 Tomahawk to upgrade from my 6700k/z170 system.

My original plan was to stick with the intel system for a while and upgrade my gpu to an rtx3080 (based on nvidia's rrp), this later became a 3070 based on actual prices, but with things just getting worse on the gpu front i decided im just going to wait until stock is available from retailers, maybe march april?.

P.s. For uk folks looking for the 5800x, ebuyer still has 150 or so in stock atm for £439

I upgraded Mom's PC from A8-3850 to Ryzen 5 3600XT, then Dad upgraded her monitor to a 43" Q60T. It seems to do pretty well so far. My own CPU upgrade has been delayed by the scarcity of Ryzen 9 5900X CPUs.

I wanted to vote but "motherboard" wasn't listed as an option. While I'm trying to sell my mATX board, my "upgrade" is coming tomorrow in the form of Asrock's Z490 PG Velocita. And, yes, I know buildzoid basically crapped all over that board in his analysis, but he's a hardcore OCer and I'm not...so, yeah, pretty sure Imma be just fine with that board. Plus it matches the theme of my build perfectly :D

OK, so I'm of the "RGB is a pestilence" persuasion (well, not really; more like IDGAF), and as far as aesthetics in general go would be perfectly happy with an ASUS CSM board, but dang. That board's a good looking piece of kit.

Right? I'm excited but also a little nervous because I've only ever owned Asus or Gigabyte boards, so this will be my first ASRock board.

I've owned a few since the socket 1155 era (intel) and can't say I've ever had an issue with Asrock.

My PC still handling everything I throw at it so no upgrades

I thought long and hard about what to upgrade...

I've decided to change my socks.

I'm gonna upgrade to something with more arch support and less stinky-stink.

I mean I literally request socks from Canada because they don't exist here but those are pretty fancy I just need to get my yearly supply of these

I hate scalpers and would never buy something from them at such ridiculously inflated prices.

Lucky for me, my non-techie wife didn't give much of a damn and got me a Series X off eBay! I got it early because she's missing this week to be with her very old family members in relative isolation. Very nice surprise.

I feel it's kind of like being against declawing cats, so being sure the one you adopt was already declawed by the previous owner.

I now proudly own a Series X and a very sweet, no-front-claws purrer named Zeus. C'mon, these guys needed homes!

Canadian socks dont have arch support!

On another note: I just replacedupgraded my USB extension cable from 2.0 to a 3.0 which included a power only socket on it.
